Hi everybody,

my company bought a lenovo desktop 2 yrs back, E-series Mini Tower.

After the update from windows, the graphic card keep crashing, NVIDIA Quadro K600. I am not sure if it is because we use the VGA port (the monitor doesn't support DVI or HDMI:(), but I doubt so.

Is there any to solve this or I do have to get a new graphic card?

Talking about Graphic card, is there any PCI-E card (longer port) that is decent for 3d max in the market? If yes, can give some recommendation?

You can try updating the drivers, download from Nvidia. Alternatively, roll back to an earlier version.

I have tried reinstalling the driver, but no matter what, it keep crashing right after it switches from the startup screen to show the desktop.

The longer port = PCI
Shorter port = PCIE

right?

You can only get PCI-E cards and maybe some old AGP cards in SLS today. Anyway if you ask for an AGP card, the salesman's jaw would drop.

We were all probably running MS-DOS/Windows 3.x/Windows 95 when PCI cards were still in use. That was 20 years ago.

Last month, replaced a ISA 16bit Cirrus Logic graphic card, the one and only ISA card still working in my stack on antique cards. :s13:

If it crashes right before windows, then its driver problem. Use system restore roll back earlier time

Got use Display Driver Uninstaller before changing drivers?

yup i did.

Even tried roll back, system restore and re-install the whole system using the disc that comes with the desktop.

It runs fine using the on board graphic card.

If you have another PCI-E slot to insert your card, can give it a try.

Also use eraser to rub the gold contact. May or may not make a difference.

Sometimes can solve some weird problems by changing the slot and cleaning the gold contact. Don't ask me why they may work, but I heard they work sometimes. :s22:

unfortunatly, the mobo doesn't have another slot. I have tried to take out and slot in the card but it doesn't work.

This incident happens to another of our Lenovo desktop brought recently. I am seriously doubting the QC of Lenovo now...

not trying to insult your intelligence or anything.

driver uninstaller refers to this:
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

did you use this? not the one you click uninstall under "Programs and Features". it's normal to crash if you use the CD that comes with the system. those are usually horrendously outdated
