Does a certain card work better with certain routers? I thought it will be generic

WiFi card is never generic lol.

Different router got different wireless standards, number of spatial streams, antenna.

Like my ASUS RT-AC68U supposrt 3x3 spatial streams on 802.11ac supporting 1300 Mbps but lower end RT-AC56S (old M1 set) only supports 2x2 spatial stream up to 867 Mbps...

You certainly won't want to get 1x1 ones that only supports up to 433 Mbps on wireless-AC for ASUS RT-AC68U.

Or in layman, your road got 3 lanes 3 cars can pass by at any one time. You won't want link it with another single lane branch road...

Heng I use 1Gbps Wired LAN with my 30 Metre Cat 5e Cable.

Wireless 5Ghz this one can go jiak sai.
Cos you need to be exactly side by side to the router to reach that speed.
TS using Wireless N or Wireless AC at 5Ghz?

Thank you guys for the detailed explanation!! Appreciate it.

For the router, I'm using the one provided by starhub, DIR-850L.

Another question, which wifi cards those PC sold at stores using?

Since your Router cover up to AC1200 Only,
you will need at least a
802.11ac Dual-band Wireless-AC1300 PCI-E Adapter.

You might only get maybe 10-30% of that speed depending on the distance apart unless your PC is beside your Router than maybe you can get 50%-70% of that speed.
