Your IoT devices such as smart TV, ZigBee, Z-Wave, Matter etc should be on a separate vlan network at home. Period. Only trusted devices on your default vlan.

Secure your router (including NAS) settings:
UPnP = disabled


No open ports on your WAN

Mine all behind firewall and prevented from communicating with other devices within the lan. I denyvthe box from accessing the Internet freely, 100% block. If need to access certain sites, I'll verify the IP and whitelist it.

Even with the legit starhub box, the same thing applies.

If certain stuffs are hard coded by these malicious actors, I'll use 4G to access. Totally isolated from my internal network.

Probably it’s the movie, drama, shows and live telecast producers taking revenge, cuz they have suffered a lot of financial losses as a result of these android tv boxes which facilitated illegal streaming and caused them to lose a lot of revenue.

My home tv since first day never touch internet. Streaming contents all go via Apple TV
