Did u try the other shops? As a consumer, most importantly is u get the item in the end. Which shop really doesn't matter. Not like pcthemes is the cheapest there anyway.

To be fair, I've exchanged mobo before with them after few days n they were never nasty or rude. If u deal with them on bigger issues, u will find they r one of the friendlier ones around

Quite common given the number of items carried by each store. I certainly don't expect any SLS store to provide live updates of their inventory. Also, it is a price list, not stock list.

I had to say i have similar experience on qoo10 purchase and also led to believe a shop had stock but end up made a wasted trip and had to return another day to collect. Just bad practices in general.

Amazon can do that because it has an impressive inventory management system running on its god-like AWS infrastructure. USA is a smart nation; we're still a dumb nation updating the price list manually using MS Word/Excel since SLS opened in 1987.
That's why government had to introduce the Productivity and Innovation Credit Scheme to help SME.

But i feel it is a bad/evil practice for SLS shops in general to remain these OOS items inside price lists, especially when they can afford to do price adjustments for other available items. I mean like you bother to amend price for e.g. RAM, but you don't bother to remove listing or as simple as changing item price to dash to reflect OOS status. Moreover, most of their inventory systems are electronised. This is simply unjustifiable.

I agree with you that it is not a good practice to keep OOS items in their price lists. Sometimes these OOS items are listed at a very good price compared to those in other shops' lists and thus have the effect of luring 'unseasoned' customers to the shops and ended up buying other 'similar' items from the shop or a wasted trip. Intended or not, leave it to your own conclusion. To be fair, some shops do update their lists and state OOS items as OOS.

Nobody shop would update the pricelist in a way that OOS, removed and place it back again when stocks come back.

As said, they don't even need to remove item from price list. If you do check every week, some shops do mark N.S , - or empty space for those OOS.

They don't even need elaborated inventory system for that. Excel will do.

cannot expect retailers to have aplenty of stocks.. even distro themselves also ran out of stock, and distro can only tell you estimated new stock will arrived... sometimes distro themselves also don't know when,,

It is not easy update the price list, especially distro can only estimate when the new stock arrived. Imagine if they removed the item from the list, then the next day the item arrived, update the list again?? That is why sometimes retailers only update twice or once a month.

Always better call before heading down to their shops, even you order online one like Qoo10.. (some know which stores I mean here)..

happy shopping! :)

Just give them the benefit of doubt la...

To be neutral, I believe this issue will definitely appear in other shops as well, matter of time.

I don't expect full stocks or available stocks all the time, or whether an item being available or OOS, remains or gets removed from the price list.

After all we are part of the business cycle, as a consumer myself, its my practice to check for stocks as it can be OOS at any point of time, even if it happened for months ago and not having stocks replenished. I also prepare myself to opt for other choices in the event of unavailability.

While its only right that price list should reflect the latest information of items, there are many more factors that can affect the frequency of this. Also as inventory grows larger and wider, tendency for errors to occur is therefore higher.

Anyway take things easy, don't get worked up for small things...

If i were you, no stock then I'll just chit chat a bit with the sales person and discuss (if possible) about alternatives lor...

Get angry at them also no use, stocks won't appear, credibility and integrity of price list will either remain, improve, or decline... which at the end of the day, you are only going to get worked up again over the same issue again, maybe at a different store instead.

Be objective, want to buy something, just focus on buying can already. Unless is product problem or unfair services provided etc, not a wise move to hold you back down.

My 2C :)

Probably it is to attract people to the shop, and also make the marketing looks good. Imagine most of the SLS shop remove the OOS from the price list, it will probably be only half of what they have. Putting a NS also troublesome, imagine they have to keep updating the PL everyday when different stocks arrive.

This has been always the way since forever.
