How many days? Thinking Thurs Fri Sat and maybe Sun?

Stay hotel? Airbnb?

For relaxation yes.

It's like Singapore in the 90s (Good old days of SG ) ?

The last I went, I take KKKL coach bus ride from JB Larkin (SG cross custom take bus 170 to JB Larkin Bus Terminal) all the way to KL stay few days, then take coach bus all the way to Penang (Butterworth) then take boat RM2 to the island (Georgetown) stay few days, then take AirAsia flight back to SG Changi Airport (flight tix SGD20++ only)

At Penang island (Georgetown) mostly take the free shuttle bus and the public buses roam around.

Updated.

I went from SG to JB to KL (stay few days) to Penang (stay few days) then back to SG.

Everything by Malaysia KKKL coach bus, free shuttle bus, public bus, KL MRT and finally cheap cheap air tix back.

Walk eat walk eat move around.

No grab, no taxi.

Penang island I stay Georgetown heritage area cheap cheap hotel, move around in free shuttle bus. There is a bus terminal there and I took the public bus to Bayan Lepas.

Then move to Bayan Lepas (nearer to airport) stay for 2 days before taking public bus to Penang International airport 😆.

Went once few years ago and never thought of going again.

Went for 4 days, flew from Changi. IMO, 3 days are enough. Nothing much, more for eating. Stayed in sunway hotel, location was good. You can also consider staying at gurney area which is near shopping malls but might be more expensive.

I like Penang. Got a lot of good food and enough things to do to sightsee and enjoy.
