If you buy the Pro Apps bundle (Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro and their companion apps add on), freshly set up already left <40gb space remaining.

I get that most folks would probably buy an external drive as well … but srsly … how y’all survive on 256gb as your main drive?
Cloud storage.

People who buy based level mac or macbook means they only do surfing, watching youtube and do simply work on office apps. So not much video editing or gaming and so don't need so many space.

I bought my wife a simple Asus based level laptop just for her to use MS Word and watch YouTube.
As she is not into gaming and knows basic computer stuff.

Anyone who buys & uses these apps, won't be getting the 256GB version. Plus, will have external Thunderbolt SSDs, NAS, other devices connected via a docking station.

Most of the base Mac buyers are students/schools/older folks who want to browse internet, etc - and they are fine with a base tier cos that is the cheapest with good stability and battery life. This is also probably their second device that they can carry to class, while they have a more capable system at home.
who buys 256GB version to do audio and video work wan :s11::s11::s11:

buy 256gb is to just sit in cafe, surf internet and look cool
Mine is a Mac Mini M4, just newly set up. I bought 256gb with the intention to DIY upsize the SSD (the larger SSD is already on-hand) … figured it would be a good idea to set up 1st, back this up, then perform the SSD swap and restore from the backup … just that when getting ready to backup I see the original SSD <40gb free space remaining, so wondering lor :o

Why I am surprised, is that this is newly set up, haven’t done any audio or video work on it yet so no audio or video files created yet … already <40gb remaining.

maybe they sign up online drive, or use a permanent external hard drive ?
My Macbook/ipad/iphone all 256GB for past 10 years…No issue, now I still have 30% free space

My iCloud space 400GB for past 10 years…. No issue, now I still have 40% free space

And I thought EDMWers who buyed MacBooks simply use them to show off in Starbucks and not do any serious work on it?

The most they use their MacBooks to surf EDMW to PCW only.
