Hi guys, I'm currently 3 1/2 months into my NS, and I am Temp E9L9.

I have just been diagnosed with depression, and I also have auditory hallucinations (meaning that I hear voices, specifically this one male one, who often shouts vulgarities at me and tells me to overdose on my medicine :( ).

I am not suicidal, though I have thoughts of death and am under a lot of stress - and I want to get well from my condition.

But I need to ask - what documents are necessary for me to take from my psychiatrist/doctor to the MO, and what PES will I be? Will I be PES E9L9 (I am very interested in Music & Drama Company and that will help me get in), or will I get discharged (PES F) because I have Depression and Psychosis?

Thanks for your help :)

you are Temp E9L9 cause of the same issue?

and you are already E9L9. The only other PES you can down to is PES F. you want down till that?

If you are asking about how you make ur temp perm, then just provide all necessary documents with you when you go for your medical review when your temp PES is up lor

so unless you so desire to get PES F, if not if your existing heart condition is serious enuf, u may just get perm pes e when u go for medical review

Auditory hallucinations is severe. I seen a girl I know with it before. Under heavy stress, especially social pressure, it can get worst. In my opinion, at most maybe you get pes e vocations or exempted. [I'm not a doctor, it's only my opinion from a personal view].

If after temporary and you get discharged from ns, you should just accept it. [It's up to you.] Bmt pes E is okay but after that is where it starts. Social stress is very heavy. They treat everyone as a soldier as a clerk. It has different atmosphere than civilian life. Sometimes, you're functionable in normal work but can't in military due to different environment atmosphere and culture. If your condition gets worst midway, just seek help and not just keep quiet. You must know the limit of your health and not be too gung-ho. I learnt that from superiors during my time. [Personally, I don't like the idea of mental disorder still have to go military... other countries exempt them.]

I think you shouldn't generalise. How sure are you that "THEY" treat EVERYONE as a soldier?

Have you worked in "EVERY" single job SAF have to offer to come up with this conclusion?

Erm... it's not my opinion so there's no conclusion. This was just taught to us long ago. I agree that this is generalising. We're being told many time by different superiors. Despite being in pes e vocations, as long as you wear a soldier uniform, you will be treated as a soldier (discipline and mentality). The superiors emphasized that everyone is treated as a soldier despite your vocations.

I remembered this exact sentence, "We can't train you physically, but you will still be trained how to think like a soldier". It's from there, I knew what to expect from pes e vocation, and... it's not healthy for some enlistees with mental disorders.

What a few of your superiors told you does not = to what all superiors will tell others.

Yes no doubt one maybe a soldier and will be treated as a soldier, but HOW a soldier is treated is a totally different ball game. Discipline and mentality varies. What one superior view as discipline and mentality can be different from what other superiors view as discipline and mentality.

So regardless of what, it's still generalisation.

If there is just one instance where one is a soldier and treated like a soldier, but how they are being treated like a soldier is healthy for one with mental disorder, your hear say statements from your small little group of superiors will not be gospel truth anymore.

In addition, how someone with mental disorder feels about how they are being treated will not be EXACTLY the same as what others feel, so it's again being back to being an opinion again.

You are not wrong either. I'm with you that everyone is treated differently. I agree that the views of discipline and mentality varies with different superiors. The chances of enlistee with a mental condition getting unreasonable superiors/officers after bmt, still exists. No one can really deny that. It's inevitable especially when the culture generally is ignorant and lack understanding towards mental conditions.

Sometimes, reality is not equavalent to what "we feel", but based on experiences. Different people got different reality infront of them because everyone has different experiences. So there's nothing wrong to share something based on personal experiences. It's like you said, it's an opinion. ;) I don't see any problem about it.

[Off-topic: I realised it's you're the same forumer who kept quoting my opinions last year. You seems quite active in this forum. I haven't been looking into forums for quite a while. I took a peak here and saw a question that that I could reply to a topic starter.]

Not disputing that the "the chances of enlistee with a mental condition getting unreasonable superiors/officers after bmt" still exists, neither can any one dispute that the chances of enlistee with a mental condition getting reasonable superiors/officers after bmt, exist. No one can really deny that. It is inevitable especially when we are unable to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that "culture generally is ignorant and lack understanding towards mental conditions".

Who is to decide what is "reality"? Ain't it the opinion of what people feel through experiences??????? So I don't see how is how people "feel" not in anyway related to people 'experiences". Then in that case why can't "reality" be subjective? It's like for people who are more optimistic, the reality to them is the glass is half empty, while people who are less optimistic, the glass is half filled.

I am constantly on the look out to pounce on people who makes claims that are unjustifiable (in my opinion)

Since you have the same wavelength of thoughts, then what's the problem?

I thought I said this,
"Different people got different reality infront of them because everyone has different experiences. So there's nothing wrong to share something based on personal experiences."

No one is judging nor deciding on yours or others "reality".
You are only putting words into people's mouth just to find reasons to argue with.

I am constantly on the look out to pounce on people who makes claims that are unjustifiable (in my opinion)
In another words, it's your hobby is to assume other's post, to find pleasure by pouncing on them. Some people can mistake this as your side job.

You're not practicing what you preached earlier,
Who are you to judge which claims are unjustifiable?
Who are you to look out and pounce on people whom you think you disagreed with?

same wavelength in an opposite way.

Then why this statement "Sometimes, reality is not equavalent to what "we feel", but based on experiences." that contradicts what you typed thereafter?

Yep, I wouldn't disagree with you on that. It's my hobby. It's up to people to see what they deem fit. Cause it doesn't matter whether people mistake it as my side job or not, cause does it matter?

1) I practised what I preach
2) I am not judging, I am disputing
3) The fact that people actually replied me shows that they have a case to answer. If you think you are right, why bother replying me? :s8: (reverse psychology :))

What I meant was, what "we feel" is just based on emotions. Experiences comes on first-hand. It's because everyone has different experiences, we see different parts of reality. ;) There is nothing wrong to contribute what we know.

If it's your hobby, then that answers it. I'm not into debate right now. In addition, I just dropped by to give a reply to the topic starter to give part of my knowledge help, nothing else. You picked the wrong and uninterested target to start a debate with.

3) The reason why I replied is because I don't find it respectful if people pounce on me while putting words into my mouth with their intentions to make my opinions lose it's credibility. That triggers responses. There's something called respecting another opinions. Especially when my first post wasn't directed towards you, you should mind your own business by not pouncing on it that trigger responses. :)

There's nothing else to discuss about so let's end it here.
We shouldn't derailed other people's topic.

What one feels maybe based on emotions resulting from the experiences at the same time, how one want to EXPERIENCE something can be based on his emotions and how one wants to feel
