Hi, would like to check if anyone bought insurance for your dog? Would need to cover surgical and illness, any affordable plans to recommend?

1. At what age to get a pet insurance? I am thinking don't need to get one when the dog is still young (puppy stage)

2. How much you all pay yearly ? Cover till what age?

I’d insure a puppy sooner rather than later. Most policies won’t cover conditions that appear before joining or during waiting periods, so delaying can make future claims harder. I’d compare the annual limit, reimbursement percentage, excess, illness waiting period and exclusions, not just the monthly premium. Check whether cover continues at renewal as the dog gets older too.

I’m in Australia and found it useful to request a pre-existing-condition assessment before choosing. I also compared a few quotes through Petsy, since their pet insurance lets you adjust limits, excess and benefit percentages. Read the policy wording carefully, especially dental and hereditary-condition rules.
