Petition to stop Samsung using Exynos

A new petition has popped up on Change.org against the use of Exynos processors in Samsung phones. The petition demands that Samsung stop using Exynos chipsets instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon counterparts. It also calls into question the use of Samsung camera sensors on Samsung phones in place of the ones made by Sony.

Thought samsung close down its custom core CPU department ? The Exynos 990 is the last. They are going to adopt semi-custom approach, similar to what Huawei is doing

I’ve signed the biggest petition, using iPhone now after 2 generations of Samsung. No regret (yet) but there are limitations and need time to get use to. And seeing the paper specs, Samsung is better.

Don't think the petition will matter much since it's probably down to money. If the loss in sales due to people not buying because of Exynos is less than the savings they can make by going with Exynos chipsets, why would they bother. haha.

Personally, instead of asking them to stop using Exynos, I would rather they just standardise the chipset they use globally and just go with the best chipset they can find that year.

If SD is the best, just use that for the year, and repurpose the Exynos chip to mid range devices. If Qualcomm messes up again (like the SD810), then they still have the option of using Exynos. At least this way it won't be a complete monopoly by Qualcomm. But highly unlikely since it won't be cost effective for them. haha.

Alternatively, just go all in with using Exynos globally.

Can't though because of licensing issues CDMA etc in the Americas..so looks like we're stuck.

Hmm. Could be. Maybe Qualcomm is only bundling those CDMA stuff with their own modem, and maybe nowadays they designed it so that it works with their own chipset only? Totally just guessing here.

In the past it still seems possible since Samsung used the Exynos 7420 globally back then, and I think variants that requires CDMA uses Qualcomm's modem. If that's the case, then really could be impossible to see Exynos globally again.
