PHILIPS Fidelio Appreciation Thread

Seems like the Fidelios have been very out of the picture in headgear talks so decided to start one. I was also quite adversed by the "Philips" branding (huh? Philips earphones? They make bulbs! And household appliances!). However after getting hold of the X1 and S2, I was very pleasantly surprised by the sound and built quality at their respective price range. Of course, the price I got for the X1 is extraordinary. Ewng will agree too :s13:

They are really built like not just tanks but TOTL luxury goods, no kidding! Sound wise also can't complain for the price you pay. Errr don't think I gonna write any review but perhaps try to describe abit later on.

The only thing is the S1/S2's fit can be really tricky. It's not a typical deep insertion fit. The design is like the Sony EX-90 and CKM500 that I have. It's quite shallow and need a certain angle to get an optimal fit, with just average isolation.

I hope this thread won't end up with ewng and me talking to each other :s13:

Where to audition?

Duno. :s13:

Where to buy?

AFAIK, the best place to buy them now is at T3 E-Hub. 7% GST absorbed + 10% discount.

Last seen 2 weeks ago they have S1/S2, X1, M1 and L1.

However, there are no demo units.

I'm intrigued by semi open iems, how does this compare to say the JVC-FX700?

IMO FX700 got a more muddy bass where it affects the mids performance...
S2 the bass is cleaner and more controlled and the mids are crystal clear...
But some songs you'll get the ear piercing feel...

yeah the s2 mids may get abit peaky/sibilant but generally it's quite well behaved. i read and read... hmm basically i think the innerfidelity review pretty much sums it all up.

in comparison, surprisingly i found the s2 to be quite close to the ex1000, with the s2 slightly more vulnerable to mids peaks and lower resolution. i even tried using a splitter connect both and 1 side poke s2, 1 side poke ex1000, still sounds ok. :s13:

nothing to hide! retail price is 199. just take 7% off then 10% off. this is t3 e-hub current promo.

s1 retail should be 149 if i'm not wrong. just subract the same from it.

saw the s1 at challenger funan today. members get 3% off.

You guys should have posted earlier, I was at T3 last week. :p At this price point and from reviews it seems like a decent buy.

it is, just that the fitting can be quite tricky, so best is can find some demo to try out first.
