Phone camera getting better

I realised phone cameras are getting better and can easily beat those 1” pocket camera. I think future will be mirrorless full frame and phone camera. Any thoughts?

Probably the case

Smartphones are good for quick and dirty one stop shot for web display ( granted under certain circumstances ) That is what they are made for, In between that press button to image, alot of processes like auto HDR and other computational photography goes into the mix to output a decent picture.

There are already some smartphone makers sporting 1" sensors ( although the definition of 1" can be debatable depending on how it is measured ) Physics is still limiting, to use the whole sensor + slim profile lens , Sharp Aquos can only fit a 19mm lens. Sony's Xperia PRO-I is unable to utilize the whole sensor despite having 1" sitting inside.

Hope mirrorless camera makers can also imbue more computational ai magic / editing into the camera system as an added feature. Granted that is not their primary role , it is still a great option to level some grounds in terms of convenience. Not everyone wants to go back and tweak raw. Zeiss has their ZX-1 with lightroom mobile but is stupidly expensive.

Using a iPhone 13 Pro. I realised something, the x3 Zoom can actually take some very nice angles. Now I learnt to stop myself from shooting at x1 (standard) for every photo and try to explore. the x3

The standard lens on the iPhone is still the best. Don't really like the x3 zoom though. It doesn't seem to be very clear. Or am I using it wrongly

I used to have business travels every month before Covid. a great photo smartphone was extreme convenient as I could not carry my heavy full frame mirrorless for each rushing trip. The phone photo was really good and there was no point to but another digital camera.

To get a great photo smartphone, I always check the DXO smartphone ranking before purchasing my next smartphone, FYR.

ps, for personal holiday, I still prefer full frame camera in RAW format. The capability for the RAW post-processing is much better than mobile phone still.

power of smartphones these days

Pixel is particularly known for their low light hdr processing.
Might look overexposed to some in low light shots.

Still prefer the depth of field from the 1 inch Sony rx100 series.

anyone have any tips on the rear screen under bright sun? is there any accessories that is effective?

asking because many times im shooting blind as i cant see what is on the screen. affects composition and totally left the focus to the phone.

Cap or umbrellas maybe.

That's one reason why I prefer my DSLR.
Also, I can take photos faster.

mobile phone and other cams are still like parallel developments that will not crossed (or not yet)?

i also prefer an optical viewfinder. it helps in composition and focusing. i had once even considered getting a zacuto, but the price and size is a put off.

on the other hand, handphone is much less conspicuous even with accessories. i doubt that other cams have the same connectivity that allows me to share photos with family that easily on apple tv and also to whatsapp the image any time i want.

right now i just going easy with phototaking. those pics that i took have poor quality, good enough to show on a small handphone screen but wont be good enough if blown up (eg to A5 size; i dun pixel creep). it is an evolving learning experience, and maybe things will change again when i upgrade to iphone 15 pro max when it comes.

IMHO.
I use DSLR and compact cameras.
The cross over for me came when I can, sort of, replace the compact camera with mobile.
Compact cameras and mobile is good for indoors during travel.
