Hi guys, i recently bought a china phone and it comes with a sim card tray. i took my sim card and fitted into the tray, however the phone does not recognise the sim at all, totally not detected.

I took out the sim card tray and realised that about 1.5mm of golden chip on the sim card is partially blocked by the sides of the sim card tray itself.

Pertaining to this :

1) The golden chip on the sim card has to be unobstructed to be read by the phone right?

2) If so, where can i cut the sim card? i live near ntu at jurong west.

Thanks guys

First of all, please check if the phone is gsm compatible.

Secondly, the golden chip need to be NOT touching the tray. I had the same issue with mine when I cut my old SIM to nano size. SIM keeps disappearing after a while until I insulate the parts that were touching the tray.

hmm. the phone should be gsm compatible.

Regarding the chip, what i meant was that i assume the golden chip should not be blocked right? or else the sim card reader cannot read i suppose? Now I'm not sure if it is a sim card issue, or a hardware problem.

No other SIM card, borrow from friends and test ?
