Phones for old folks

Hi all.

As 2g will not be available next year. Any recommendations for ☎ for old folks that will not consume the data. The current smartphone is too chim for my elderly at home. Kumxia

M1 do sell the Alcatel 2045X with the Prepaid M Card offering. Quite cheap after trading in.

My grandmother uses Samsung but set the easy mode. Make the phone very simple and basic. Then turn off data.

i got this for my mum..... it's okay as long as the old folks are not going to use smartphone apps.

as in u off the mobile data icon? this won't affect making or receiving calls right cause senior citizens may press wrongly or exceed usage without knowing

4G plans can be used on 3G network. (Not the opp direction).

Tbh, if the voice usage is still high (older generation ma), you can just opt to go for M1 mySIM+ plan.

mySIM+ 15 & extra 200mins talktime = $25.35/mth (inc CID) for 500MB data (1GB if contract), 300 mins talk and 500 SMS. Free incoming calls also.

If usage levels is very low (maybe just a few calls per month), and the Prepaid balance seems to not be able to finish within 6 month (180 days) of validity, M1 Prepaid have the VAS to extend validity by up to additional 6 months (180 days) at low rates deductible from main balance. StarHub only have the VAS for up to 90 days.

(I don't know what link for StarHub, all I know is their network is **** compared to M1. Given up on them already.)

There is an easy mode with on most smart phones for the elderly! An alternative would be Ino branded phone - purpose built from the get go!

3G feature phone? See the thread above, I've said before. 3G smartphone, don't bother, unless you don't mind a slow slow phone. You can actually just get a decent 4G smartphone, but connect your line to 3G network instead (WCDMA only mode on Android).

If the person is coming from 2G, what make you think 3G will be slow for him. He may not even need a smart phone.
