Hi bro,

Save the money for those expensive dinings.... let me suggest to you to save on your accommodation and travel around phuket. I am there between 13th to 17th April 2014.

Upon arrival at Phuket Intl Airport, I head straight out and approach a brown desk where I bought a minibus ticket to Patong. The cost is 180 baht. Once boarded, the driver will first drive you to a travel agency. He will ask you to alight because.... the agency wanna hardsell some tours to you but at the same time you also be asked where you stay and they will write down for you in Thai for the drivers to send you directly to hotel.

Hotel accommodation recommended: Neptuna Patong Hotel (in the heart of patong, 1 block away from soi bangla) cost is abt SGD 50 to 60 per night via agoda.

Mode of transport: either car or bike - no license required for Bike.
BIKE (110cc or 125cc) - costs abt 200 to 250 per day. Cost of full tank abt 300 baht.
CAR (Honda Jazz) - costs abt 1200 baht per day. Full tank abt 1600 baht.

Alone tuk tuk and taxi will kill your $$ silently without you knowing... so you have lesser booze...

Anyway, with the chosen mode of transport, you can go to Kata area for dim sum or you can go to Rawai Pier for cheap and fresh seafood (you buy from fishermen and ask the restuarant to cook for you at a low fee).

Go visit any of the view points for a wonderful sunset, 2 recommended viewpoints are promthep cape or karon viewpoint. You can also see from Patong beach...

Can visit Kathu waterfall (search google map for location)

Cheers!!

my advice if u thinking about driving, just straight rent a car fr the airport.
just goggle online for the name, i always for for Davids car rent. Shop is just few min away from airport. they will pick u up, drive you to the shop and settle the paper work.. and off you go!!

road in phuket are pretty easy..
have fun!!

You are right! But to rent from airport and to return at the same place... if you travel from state to state it is not advisable to get rental near airport unless they willing to pick up from you at your hotel.

Lxb_70 no problem to drive or ride without a driving license in phuket. Avoid speeding and avoid crashes. Drive normally and slow down when you see a police officer. But do not stop when the officer flag you down. Just drive gradually and act blur but be attentive to the road.

Everything will be fine...

To be fair. I feel taxi price is cheaper then sg.
Coz ur destinatio s sibei far. E.g airport to kata about 800 baht. But is 1hr non stop journey...if u take mini bus cheap but take at least 2hr coz it will stop.

Best is rent car or bike. Infact all sort of shops rent bike. I saw spectacle shop also renting out

Lastly .at the arrival hall right side near car rental hops have a minimart. Remember to buy your dtac happytourist there. The cashier will help u set up. Coz u never know if nearby ur hotel.resort have shops selli g or not
