Hi

Anyone or knows of anyone in this line esp diesel? My friend wants me to help loan him to startup. Or should i ask for some equities instead? Is it risky?

Also want to ask is it really difficult to find seller of diesel?

What does your friend need? Diesel fuel? Or money?

You trust him enough to lend him *something*?

Do you know anything about trading (or investing)?

He need cash to buy physical diesel fuel. He's like a middleman, already got seller and buyer.

Trust is ok, but trying to do some due diligence.

I don't know much about this line nor trading though.

Commodities trading on exchanges is almost exclusively done with contracts. There is no physical oil exchanging hands in the trading. What changes are the contracts.

To buy the physical products, you have to contact a company that sells them.

As for making money from equities trading or investments, short term trading is for experts.

Tks for the clarification, I guess in this case, it should be called import/export diesel?

Something like that. It can be considered as B2B sales. For example, there are business personnel in SPC managing B2B sales of various refined products.

1. You don't know enough about the business to make an informed decision.

2. If your friend is a good friend, he won't ask you for money now. Letting you take all the risk and he take the money. A good friend will build the business into some extend, with PO and operation running before letting his friends in.

3. If your friend need money, he can get a loan from a bank. If the bank won't loan him, meaning something is wrong with your friend's business. If bank won't lend, neither should you.

4. In this business, you are taking all the risk, he's taking all the money. Chances is the business is not going to work out and you are going to lose all your money, he's going to take your money and spend it on himself.

PLEASE DON'T BE AN IDIOT AND DO NOT LEND YOUR MONEY TO YOUR FRIEND!

Believe it or not... I'm more of a friend to you than your friend ever be to you.

If got seller and buyer means got Purchase Orders and Invoices.

If he can't show you POs and Invoices, meaning he's lying.

You should know that if got POs, he can goes to a bank and immediately get a loan. Why is he not doing that?

I hate to tell you bro, your friend is trying to pull a fast one on you.

In business, there is no trust. If you want trust, then go do social work. I can tell you, once you have no more to give your friend, all the trust will fly out the window. When you start to ask your money back from your friend, all trust nowhere to be seen.

DO NOT LEND YOUR FRIEND YOUR MONEY!!!

I'm trying to help you bro...

Thanks Alex. Much appreciate your kind advice and gesture. I believe he is genuine, I'm just a bit wary of the biz, as you had rightfully mentioned, I don't know this niche biz much. But am just trying to do my due diligence so asking around foe people who are in this line.

Alex is very correct. If you have spare cash, do not need the money now and can live without those money, by all means. Otherwise, just tell your friend to find other source.

I disagree with Alex.
He has some validity in what he says, however!

In today's biz Environment, bank's are extremely pessimistic. They do not lend at all, and sometimes even with collateral. Therefore, if an bank doesn't lend you money, doesn't mean there is something wrong. That's a very amateur way of looking at things. Perhaps it works for where the gentleman is.

About friends lending to friends/ investing, that is entirely up to them and they need to be aware that their social contract (simple friendship) is taking on a financial aspect. Kinetic, please think also what will happen if the business doesn't go as planned?

Is your friend going to be the trader where he buys from one and sells to the other, or is he just a broker?

PO's: a bank simply will not loan money against a PO. Doesn't happen these days. It requires a trade structure with understanding of terms and costs etc.
Sounds like alex has really been burnt, and i fully understand. I've been on the receiving end of the same, more times than I care to remember.

If you really wish to help your friend, ask him to let you be in the company (if there is).
The trade of oil sales is quite challenging, so while it looks promising, i'd suggest you dig deep into the mechanism of the trade itself.

I am currently going thru 2 trades myself, and it requires sufficient knowledge especially of shipping terms. Otherwise, newbies will be burnt, and in the oil industry, they can smell you in 1 sec.

Hopefully this is a more balanced and somewhat informative perspective to you query.
