Oh I got mine 2nd hand at AUD$500. It was about a year or so back and my friend got it for a couple of months but had to return home.

So I think it was about... 700+ in SGD at that time? The RRP was about AUD900+ and In singapore it was retailing at about.. $1.1k(?) with 2nd handed ones being in the range of $650 to $750 from eBay.

I'm still in aust and the lessons here are pricey. Mine's $30 for half hour one-to-one lessons. I prefer personal lessons because the speed of group lessons might not be the one I'm comfortable with.

A friend of mine gave piano lessons in Singapore in the past told me she charges about $45 per hour and average rates were $45 to $60. My info isn't very updated tho

Yea I've always wanted to learn to play the piano and violin. Couldnt afford it before now and loving it at the moment!

P120 and P155 sound really nice and loud. P70 is a good starting point if you aren't sure if piano is your cup of tea, or if you just want one to practice techniques till you can afford a better piano But if that's the case, any weighted 88keys piano would suffice. I personally feel that it is more important to get one that feels as close to an acoustic as possible when starting out. Sound becomes important only in later stages

But yea, I would defn encourage you to live your dreams!

yeah i agree to live your dreams too.. i was glad i didnt wait any longer 3 yrs ago when i started piano, it was a dream from young but i didnt dare to voice it out to my parents.. luckily i was "convinced" to do so.

keyboard is like u can do alot of beats, diff sounds, more portable etc
is like those talented ppl "performing" in MRT tunnel. those r keyboard

piano is bigger size, more ex, not portable and u cant do diff sound effect except piano sound.

Keyboards typically refers to those portable pianos that are powered by electricity, and may or may not have onboard memories to store different voices. The main difference lies in the weight of the key and there are two types, namely; hammer action, and synth action types.

The synth action types are those that you might have played with as a child. Striking a key produces a sound regardless of how heavy or light the strike was and the keys are significant'y lighter as compared to a piano.

The hammer action (or graded hammer action) are similar to acoustic pianos in that the keys are weighted down to simulate the feeling of an acoustic piano.

So if you're an aspiring pianist, you are usually recommended to play on a graded hammer action type of keyboard because.. well that's what all traditional pianos are (grand or upright). I've also read that unless you can afford the space and cost of a grand piano, it's better to buy a digital piano (weight keys of course) than an upright piano. Technology has allowed almost perfect samplings of voices and digital pianos are always in tune, important if you're trying to attain perfect pitch! It's also cheaper. portable, and requires less space.

There's a another term "fully weighted keys" which means that the keys of the digital piano has wooden keys. I've never tried that before but I'm assuming it'd be better. Even with a graded hammer dig. piano, I can still feel the difference between it and an acoustic.

I'm looking for a piano teacher for my 8 yr old daughter(no music background),maybe getting lessons at home if possible.Any lady teacher could spare the time for weekdays nights.We are staying near pasir ris.

We have not gotten a piano but may get a casio (cdp 200r)..is it OK?...about $900 is it?...

Remember to get professional piano movers for that! And tune the piano after moving!
