Pingxi Lantern 2014 14 Feb

I am going for the sky lantern festival on 14 Feb. Should I stay in Taipei and return back after the release of lantern or stay in Pingxi?


How long to travel to and fro Taipei?

Yes. U should. Or try booking jiufen if u can. U will take as long as 3 hours due to the fact that every one is rushing there. No joke. We left from jiufen, waited about an hour before we could board next train from ruifang to shifen.

Pls check, not all sky lantern release is at pingxi. Actual day ones likely at shifen. Went in 2010 n 2012. Exhilerating view.

Usually they will release 12 times that day. The egress is hardest. We stayed till 3 release n escape the bulk. Reached back ruifang ard 1030pm. My friend went back to muzha taipei, reached closed to 1130pm. Only transport is the feeder service and the TRA trains.

Doubt u gonna get any now against the locals.

there will b many public transport....seldom ppl will drive car cos there is traffic control n road closure. high chance u b caught in jam oso


although public transport oso no much better but u dun haf a choice

yes...99% of the ppl is doing the same
there will b trains, shuttle bus cab etc etc

Yes. The wait is 1.5-2hours to get on bus to taipei. U r not the only one who wanna get out.

It is like a good 20mins walk. U know it when u get there. Follow the crowd.
