Oh that's even lower then i thought.
But wdym Bahasa Indonesia? Why would Indians know that language?
At least bahasa has a higher penetration among those who went to school in Indonesia, similar to china where even the most remote of village can speak some putonghua, albeit using their very heavily accented tone and vocab that only the local understand .

The regional politics among the indian states is so strong that some indians rather use English to communicate with other fellow India nationals, than to use Hindi.

Haha i'm just very slow i guess. Didn't notice until just now, when reading the news about integrating India's Unified Payments Interface with our Paynow. We never integrate Alipay or wechatpay, but we integrate UPI. That came as a surprise.
Hmms ... but how were you aware that SG was into CN previously ?

But my feel when dealing with one India company through my coy, is that the English penetration rate isn't very high either.... they are barely string an English sentence together.

Hmm can't remember. Very early on, I somehow got the idea that LKY got rid of the dialects and pushed mandarin, as part of a push to foster better commerce with China by ensuring most of us can speak Mandarin. I don't know where i got this idea from though, and now that i think about it, i don't even know if it's true. Then there's the high profile projects like Suzhou Industrial Park etc.

Yup but there hasn't been any industrial park projects with them for a long time right ?

On the other hand , alot of coys who name starts with sing has been losing , I mean investing , in one specific country for quite some time now ...

You go see who are those managing the sovereign fund and you will get your own answer...

Don't need to believe edmw ... believe own eyes...

Serious post here. No **** or foreigner bashing please, do that somewhere else.

Anyway, back to topic. I've noticed that recently, it looks like PAP is pivoting to India and focusing less on China? During LKY's era, China was identified as a country with high potential, and we took steps to ensure good relations and close cooperation so we are well positioned to benefit from China's rise. Nowadays, we are doing more and more deals with India instead. Our forward looking leaders have identified India as the rising star of the next few decades and making preparations? Or am i just reading too much into things?

Where got? If you are right, what a poor judgement. Indonesia n Vietnam is doing so much better and would be even bigger
