Which MSI motherboard should I get
I am looking at tomahawk

Why 265K? You are into gaming just get the 9800X3D and a B850 for better Gaming performance.

If you insist on intel, for MSI just get the Z890 tomahawk. Or you wanna spend a bit more for the Z890 Ace.

I am using 265K + ASrock Z890 Nova wifi.

You can get good performance out of the 265k for gaming, takes more work. Easier just get AMD 9800X3D and a B850.

as in i think there isnt a huge difference between B850 and B650 boards
i kinda feel there's no need to spend the extra money~

800 series is same as 600 series for AMD board unless you get one that has nitropath (or similar tech) which allows 4 dimm boards to run memories with higher clocks

don't write off intel yet because its fun to tweak and in unoptimized games like Cities Skyline 2 it massively overperforms compared to AMD chips

best way is to search up benchmark on the games you want to play and decide the chip from there

It's board dependent for b650 but b850 is guaranteed 1 gen 5x4 m.2 slots. Some boards has 2 as well.

B850 generally have higher chance of having gen 5 PCIE x16 slot for GPU as well. B650 has no chance of that happening.

So what you're paying for is future-proof. It generally depends. If the price difference is negligible like at most 50 bucks more, I think it's worth it since the board is compatible with future am5 parts and have more parts future proof is worth the 50 bucks premium.

Anything more is basically up to you to see if it's worth it.

For example, b650m mortar vs b850m mortar, while the b650m is a solid board, it has 0 gen 5 parts. The b850m has gen 5 parts for m.2 and gpu on top of that, fantastic features like the never been seen on b series board 5 gigs of lan
