Planning to switch to IP 6+

Hi gadget experts,

I am planning to buy a new IPhone 6+ in replacement for my poor 4S. However when I browse through Apple store, they do not seem to provide installment solution. Is there anywhere on earth in Singapore that provides installment plan? I find it straining to pay off one shot and I do not wish to recontract my carrier; I just want it with my old plan. Any idea?

And also upon changing, how do I jailbreak IPhone 6+? I have never done any jailbreaking on my 4S so practically I have no experience in this field. Is there a comprehensive step by step guide to this? And is jailbreaking necessary?

My poor 4S has lost its Wifi several years ago and I have been feeding on data plan. It all happened after some OS update that killed my phone's Wifi ability. I wonder if 6+ would happen the same? Anyone can comment on this?

Next, can I use my SIM card on the new IPhone 6+? Do I have to purchase a new SIM card? I think my card is still on 3G though I am not sure.

Do you think it would be practical to use IPhone 6+ for calling? Because the phone is kind of large compared to all my old phones, I thought I will look funny talking to a large phone. Should I get a speaker-earphones for calling so I don't catch smirking glances in the train?

1) Apple store installment plans are applicable only to Mac purchases and exclusively for citibank credit card holders. You might wanna try courts or harvey norman if you want to purchase the phone on installment plan.

2) Jailbreak Guide

3) Jailbreak is not necessary at all if you are new to the iphone. jailbreaking simply allows more customization options. For normal usage, i advice not to jailbreak.

4) Your 4S probably had a faulty wifi chip if it totally lost wifi capability. Hardware faults are all about luck. there's always 1yr warranty if anything goes wrong.

5) you would need to check on your mobile plan if it has 4G. i would advice you to switch to a 4G plan for a better experience. (that might require you to sign a new contract) the choice is yours.

6) iPhone 6/6+ requires nano sim card. if you don't plan on changing to a 4G plan and sim card, you can always bring your 3g micro sim card to any hp shop to get it cut down to a nano sim. should cost you around $5 +/-

7) if you feel weird making the jump, there is always ip6 rather than the 6+.. anyway, big phones are so common nowadays, no one will even notice it.. just do it.. don't think so much..

I remember a friend of a friend had WiFi issue, he solved it by freezing the phone (chip got too hot).

Pay using your credit card. Then call your bank to bring down into installments. if you are using standard chart credit card just log in and select easy payment.

Am I the only one that thinks that all Singtel's plans are lousy? Hardly anyone on earth needs 1000 free sms when whatsapp is available. And that 100mb and 2GB, seriously?

Is it all that worth to switch from 3G to 4G?

That really depend on you, I find that 3G sped is quite ok, as ism only use for flipboard and candy crush, hence under cis plan, with 12g I just paying 34.14 per mth...if I need video or stream video, 3G still can support most of the time....using 4s not intention of upgrading

regarding 3g or 4g, you gotta decide based off your data usage patterns.. i on average use 6gb per month..
