My budget I'm looking at around 1.5k - 1.8k... I'm definitely not looking to overclock my rig, definitely contented with the stock version of it. Monitor, keyboard and mouse not needed... Main usage of the PC would be just probably be movies, gaming (GTA V, CSGO, Witcher 3 etc) and work only, no editing of photos/videos.

Any recommendation on what to get ?? I was thinking of 970 gfx, i5 processor, 8gb 1600 ram, probably Samsung evo 850 ssd 256/500, and probably another 1tb hdd (7200 rpm), 550w psu should be sufficient, mobo I still haven't decide so any suggestion? Lastly, for cooling system should I be getting water cooling (Corsair H100i) or just stick with normal fans will do ?

So anyone got any suggestion to work out a gaming rig similar to my specification above. On top of that, any suggestion where should I get my parts, I was recommended PCThemes, Fuwell from SLS... Any other places should I get from other than these 2 above ? Is it recommended to get them build the whole rig or self assembly would be better ?

Thanks for reading, any recommendation of other specification will also be appreciated..

Thank you very much for the reply, actually was wondering if it is advisable to get everything from Amazon, because the savings you get compared to sls is almost quite a lump sum...

getting from amazon is good if you save a significant amount, but the downside is if there are any issues with your parts the RMA process can take much longer compared to buying locally

Can save, but RMA is more tedious. If you want to take the risk you can go ahead

Anyway you can consider bumping up to GTX980 since your budget allows it

Hey I was thinking of getting MSI H97 Gaming 3 w/ i5 4690, MSI GTX 970 Gaming, Samsung EVO 500gb, Corsair Vegance 8gb, WD Blue 1tb... A seasonic M12II 520W is it sufficient for it ??

If you got the money, go ahead.
If you are on budget, there is extremely small improvement (less than 3%) over choosing H97 and i5 4690. Not really worth the money.

500W or more is more than enough. Infact, your whole system only use less than 400W.

Yes it is sufficient

However might not be as good of a value lol

1. For gaming, there is no noticeable difference between i5-4690 and i5-4460, so get the cheaper option. I only got the i5-4690k because I am a overclocker.
2. For motherboards, even the cheaper ones are good enough for gaming. I guess you are looking at it cause you are colour matching right? B85-G43 Gaming is also red/black and is cheaper (by like 50 dollars). Has enough features for most users too.
3. I guess looking at the 500GB is fine but yeah, 256GB is a pretty nice sweet spot now lol.
4. Vengeance looks nice, I own a pair of 8GB modules. However they don't really provide much noticeable benefit in gaming. I bought it for the looks
5. MSI GTX970 Gaming is a pretty good choice. More expensive than the Zotac or Palit, but since you are (probably) colour matching it is fine.
6. If you are not going for the H81M-E35, you would probably be looking at a bigger board, and in that case you would have to look at a bigger case. I think a Corsair Carbide Spec-03 or a Sharkoon T28 will fit your colour theme just fine.

Hi there, any reason for a 16gb ram?.
Am interested to DIY my pc, was thinking if a 8gb ram is sufficient. Usage less demanding as I do not do much gaming. More for work and shows, etc. Also, is there significant difference from brands such as Corsair and G.Skill compared to the value rams SLS offers?
Many thanks.
