My Alevel grades are somewhat (below) average:
B for H2 Phy, Chem and Maths
C for H2 Econs
C for GP
A for PW

What are my chances of getting into a business course? Accountancy is out of the question right?

Also if I do manage to get an interview for SMU business, will I be required to take an english test because of my C in GP?

Thanks! :s13:

You may not be able to enter NUS & NTU.
NUS Business - AAA/C, Accountancy - AAA/A | GP/PW - C
NTU Business - AAB/B, Accountancy - AAA/C | GP/PW - C

You might be able to enter SMU Business, you just have to pray that the competition is not strong this year,
IGP 10th percentile - BBB/B, GP/PW - C

I doubt there will be any english test for you.

You may also consider business and accountancy related courses from SIT and UniSIM College,

SIT and UniSIM also have accountancy courses. There's a higher chance to get in there.

Yes the percentile information are online but I'm also aware that they do not truly reflect the grades of people who got in so just seeking advice from people who have been through this/ have friends in similar situation (with borderline grades)

Thanks for the advice!
For NTU, if I were to appeal into NBS, will there be a possibility of getting in? I've heard from my friends that NBS is actually quite open to appeals and that their appeals have a high rate of success so just wondering if its true?
For SMU, if I do get shortlisted for the interview, will I be at a disadvantage (in terms of getting accepted) as compared to the others because of my mediocre grades?
:)

if u wanna study accounting, dun waste money/time on uni. go and study ACCA and u can get an accountant job anywhere in the world. If you think that going to uni and study accounting will give u a higher pay. sorry it doesnt work this way. in fact accounting has one of the lowest pay among all courses.

Hello! I'm actually more interested in the business/ econs course than accounting! And thanks for the advice! :)

Feel free to appeal to NBS if you didn't get an offer from them. No harm appealing. But you should know that you have little chance of success, as base on IGP 10th percentile, their weakest students are around AAB/B.

For SMU, you will definitely be at disadvantage, imagine how many students there are between 10th percentile and 90th percentile. Not to mention, A Level graduates from other years will also be in that pool.
So you really have to thrive hard during interview, if shortlisted.

You may wish to take SAT test ASAP, as SMU stated that a score of more than 2000 can be an added advantage. Last SAT test date considered for 2015 admission is May 2015.

Do put in some effort in applying for the new universities as well, if you don't get an offer from the older 3 universities, you will be left with nothing,

If you like econs, your grades should be able to enter all 3 local uni econs course too. Depends on your interest really. What do you like about business?
