Hi,

Since my laptop going to KO soon (just a feeling), I've been thinking of getting a desktop for gaming and sell-off/trade-in my laptop and old desktop (really only salvage parts).

Please do let me know if you know anyone who will accept trade-in or anywhere I can sell if and if I can make changes to fit my budget :D Have the monitor, KB, mouse for reuse, so no issues. May get Windows 10 off Reddit for cheap if can't reuse laptop OEM key.

1. SSD: Samsung Evo 850 250GB (M.2 or not is OK for me)
2. HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black
3. GPU: Sapphire RX 480 8GB Nitro
4. CPU: i5-6500 (have a salvageable CM Hyper212)
5. RAM: Any value RAM 16GB (8x2) is good
6. Mobo: Please recommend
7. Case: Please recommend
8. PSU: Please recommend
9. Wireless Adaptor: Asus USB-AC56 or PCIE-AC68

My super old desktop that I want to get rid of:
No HDD, been salvaged for external
1. CPU: AMD (forgot which model)
2. Mobo: m5a78l-m lx
3. RAM: 4GB
4. GPU: Powercolor HD 5770
5. PSU: CoolerMaster Extreme 525
6. Case: CoolerMaster Elite 311 (can be reused for new rig)

Many thanks for all your feedback!

For the mobo just a cheap asrock h110m-hdv will do fine.case if you want to save money just reuse but if you don't than tecware alpha and xigmatek frontliner can be found for $62 and $64 respectively on carousell retailers. Psu i recommend you get the seasonic s12g 450w for $79 at pcthemes or superflower leadex silver for $100 from t258jgn.

any budget?
playing what games?
need any others stuff like kb and mouse?

though still prefer u get those normal SSD can already, dun need to get m.2
HDD just get a WD Blue or toshiba, have a bit more budget can get hitachi 3TB(not sure have less than 3TB available in local market.)
as for your CM Hyper 212, make sure you have a mounting socket for LGA 1151.
Wifi, which router are u using? and how far away? close door? multiple wall? required super high speed?

if your distance is short and not many walls, hope to get decent speed can consider AC56

if really u want top tier can go for ac68

Lastly for your old pc maybe max 400 or less but wont be more than 500.

As far as I know, all LGA 115x CPU cooler sockets are the same as specifications has not changed.

6. Mobo: As mentioned above, any cheap H110 board from a good brand will do
7. Case: Re-use or tecware (anything goes really)
8. PSU:
For something decent, get FSP HYDRO 500W 80+ BRONZE.
Personally prefer Seasonic cos I don't think we should skimp on the PSU.

Games like Overwatch, new games that I put off buying because laptop can't support lol I have kb, mouse and TV to reuse, so no need for the peripherals.

HDD wise, will take your recommendation to get the Blue instead. Probably won't get Toshiba as I've had bad experiences with both Toshiba and Seagate previously. For Hyper212, the mount can be adjusted depending on the socket IIANM. Will double confirm on this.

Wifi, currently only using the Singtel provided one. Located quite far from me, with a common room blocking me. I have a TPLink extender nearer to me room though (2br HDB).

For old PC, will be happy if can get that price to offset the costs of this new rig :D Thanks!

Yeah, I think will get Seasonic as well. Thanks for the recommendation!
