Hi experts. Building a PC from scratch.

My budget is around $900 without monitor.

Using for:
Mid gaming (not those max settings kind, just decent/normal settings enough)
light usage for Photo editing
watching movies/dramas etc
surf net.

not using for:
video editing

will be using HDMI to connect to my tv as a monitor.

Thanks for helping with ur advice! :)

Name all games and photo-editing software that you are using.

thanks alternative X.

just photoshop but not on a professional usage.

games wise will be those RTS, RPG kind. maybe civilization 5, GTA, dragon age, far cry etc. but i dont need them to be on very good settings.

Buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, get PC Themes to assemble for you for a fee.

Notes:

1) This rig should be good enough to play your games at Medium-High settings in 1080p.

2) Got any old computers lying around the house? Consider reusing the HDD, DVD-RW and DDR3 RAM in the new rig to save $$$.

Yea, Alternative X.. that sounds about the right stuff. Mobo, CPU ... but If he manage to get extra bucks, I would definitely get a 270, will make a good difference.

If TS has extra $$$, would rather that he buy the Powercolor R9 280 ($285) or the Sapphire R9 280 ($265) rather than the Powercolor R9 270 ($249) and play his games at High-Max settings, very big difference. The very small price difference between the R7 265 and the R9 280 makes the R9 270/270X GPUs not very good value.

I dunno, better to spend a little more on getting a 256GB SSD. Space runs out pretty fast...I think you can get a good deal on Crucial or OCZ these days.

BTW, where did you find Crucial M550 120GB for $86?
