Please help to recommend a ryzen build

Hi all,

Need your expertise to recommend me a Ryzen build.

Usage: light gaming, videos/web surfing, office word, light photoshop

Preference: ITX board (prefer a small casing), AMD graphics to take advantage of free sync from the monitor mentioned below.

As my dell monitor kaput, i thought of buying the LG-29UC88 monitor to replace.

1) Do i need 16GB of ram?
2) is Rx580 overkill for light gaming?
3) I prefer a classy casing with a small footprint. Probably something like Jonsbo casing.

Yes and No. It primarily depends on your use. Currently, 16GB is the norm. Hardly find any 8GB builds. Even Mobile phones start to have 8gb. haha.

2) is Rx580 overkill for light gaming?

For your monitor, at 2560x1080, no, not overkill. It's perfect for Ultrawide 1080p and should be future proof for another year or so.

3) I prefer a classy casing with a small footprint. Probably something like Jonsbo casing.

I wonder what is the definition of light gaming here. What games are TS playing? For my light gaming, I only went for a GTX 1050 Ti which cost less than half the price of the RX 570 recommended. Runs everything smoothly, including games like Rise of the Tomb Raider @ 1080p.

Anyway, if TS really wants an AMD card for FreeSync, the I guess the best option is indeed the RX 570. RX 560 is significantly slower and poor value for money.

Actually on the other hand, i thought of building a hackintosh. But it requires a Nividia card for initial setup.

Nope, it doesn't. That's why if that is your requirement, the best AMD card to get now will be the RX 570. from later posts 2017, seems they'd fixed the freesync flicker for planet coaster

Every other game works without flickering, including GTAV, CS:GO, Kindergarten, Planet Coaster, Tom Clancy Ghost Recon.

Just hoot gtx 1060 6gb or gtx1070 version by topup 150. Gtx 1070 is not an overkill i u play triple A titles.

Quite frankly, for the type of games you mentioned that you play, I don't think it is a deal breaker not to have FreeSync. If that is the case, I think you should do well enough with a GTX 1050Ti.
