Hi everyone,

I'm using an old Windows XP computer, currently about 8 years old.
Always been upgrading the parts but now it's about the max I can go.

Nowadays often hanging because I think it needs a re-format. Think the windows is corrupt already.

I have 1 TB of data inside (music, movies games photos etc) that I want to keep.
My hard disks are IDE, non-Sata, so I don't think I can use them on a new computer.

So please advise me:

1) Should I get a new computer? Then transfer everything over manually by transferring to External Hard disk?
What should I do with my old HDDs then?

2) Or should I get an Ext HD, and then reformat this computer?

1) get a computer better, get a external hdd, transfer your current internal hdd computer files to that external hdd

Get a new COmputer lolz, since 8 years liao.. higher chances hardware fail will start..

How old is your HDD?
If your HDD not that old then make it as your backup / addition drive.. b4 doing that then check for bad sector or run the manufacturer HDD disk diagnostics to make sure your HDD is still Ok.

Get one Ext HDD and Transfer all your old files to there

Good to do a major overhaul. I assume you are in the LGA 775 platform?

I suggest you get an external hardisk to backup all your files and wait a little more to jump to the latest ivy bridge platform. It would be a big performance jump against your current setup.

Do you have any budget in mind?

My budget is less than 1200.

When will the ivy bridge platform be out? I don't know about that technology, (sorry v suaku).

Ivy bridge released long time ago liao
