Hello, could anyone recommend me a PC setup mainly for gaming (dota 2, league of legends mainly)

Budget is around 1k sgd. Prefer NVIDIA cards over AMD.

Thanks in advance!

Is there any way to up the i3 to an i5? Will there be any differences?
Not really. Both DOTA 2 and LoL are not very CPU intensive. Even a Pentium can also play both games at max settings without any significant performance loss.

How about for future games such as evolve? But of course I'm sure 1k can't hit max. Maybe mid-high settings when it's out? Is there any way to min-max the rig?

1) You never say you want to play Evolve in the future. The rig was suggested assuming that you only want to play DOTA 2 and LoL. Any other games that you have in mind?

2) You open to AMD GPUs? At the $180-$230 price range, AMD GPUs are actually better value than Nvidia.

Might play evolve/future mmos. That's why was thinking would an i3 be enough or just scrape through.

Had bad experience with AMD prefer nvidia.

CPU+ Mobo: ASROCK H81M-HDS + i5 4460 (329)
RAM: CRUCIAL PC 12800/1600MHZ DDR3 CL11 VALUE RAM (8GB) (99)
GPU: ZOTAC GTX750 TI 2GB (219)
SSD: CRUCIAL M550 128GB (86)
HDD: TOSHIBA 1TB 7200RPM (69)
DVD-RW: LG 24X DVD-RW SATA OEM (25)
PSU: FSP AURUM S 500W (89)
Case: DEEPCOOL TESSERACT (65)

Total cost: $981

Buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, get PC Themes to assemble for you for a fee.

Notes:

1) Unfortunately, the GTX 760 is way out of the budget, so can only put in an i5 at best and use the rest of the $$$ to get a better quality PSU. Would suggest that you save up and get a better GPU in the future when you want to play Evolve.

2) This rig at its current state should be capable of playing Evolve at Medium settings in 1080p. No guarantees as Evolve is still unreleased.

Can also play most MMORPGs at max settings easily as most MMORPGs tends to be easy on the CPU and GPU to allow people to have a playable gaming experience even if they are using a potato for a rig. However, some GPU demanding MMORPGs like Archage may require you to dial down your graphic settings down to Medium when playing these games. Hope you don't mind.

3) Interestingly, on PC Theme's pricelist, they have the Zotac GTX 660 listed in it for $189. I did not include in the build as I am not very sure if they actually have this GPU in stock or not.

Do note that if they really have this GPU in stock, it is actually a very good bargain as the GTX 660 is a more powerful GPU than the GTX 750Ti and will allow you to theoretically play Evolve at Medium-High settings. Can ask them, but don't expect too much though.

Nvidia is more ex than amd. And dun forget ur budget is only $1k. Beggars cant be choosers unless u up budget. Only worthy card for its price-performace ratio in nvidia camp is 970. And the cheapest is ard $449-499, depending if gt discounts or not.

Your choice. Is either you get a much lower graphics settings on 750ti. Ot you get a monsterous 280 which can last till prolly the next gen worth of games.

Think carefully.

The amd 280 is a good card la. I used to like 750ti but at that price its just a crap performer, considering you top up $40 for almost double performance. Unless you using itx low power rigs, 750ti shouldnt be recommended these days
