Please recommend gaming rig

Building gaming PC for the first time..

- budget 2k(including windows and a 27" monitor)
- Not overclocking
- No preference for theme
- Preferably can play games like Dark souls 3 / Witcher 3

Hi,

I just built a gaming rig at around $2000 (without monitor) for my friend. His specs are these:

Intel i5 6600 processor @ 3.3Ghz
Asus H150m Plus Micro-ATX motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM 16Gb (8GB x 2)
Cryorig C7 CPU Cooler
Superflower 650W PSU (Gold Rating)
480GB SSD
1TB 3.5 inch HDD
Nvidia GTX 1070 (Palit, Zotac or EVGA)
Corsair Carbide 240 case (or equivalent if you are not particular)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64bit Home)

With the games you are playing (like Witcher 3) you can get a 1070 and be able to play at Ultra settings at 1080p or 1440p comfortably.

I didn't list the price for individual items because the price will depend on where you get the parts from (Lazada, Qoo10, Carousell, Amazon, SimLim) but you should be able to hit just under $2000 or around that figure.

i dun recommend this ssd. i would rather push for the zotac premium if he needs a 480gb one.

Nah. The Zotac ssds even with the slight price premium is way better than the sandisk ones. SanDisk ssds are not good at all. And honestly, zotac pricing is not far off from SanDisk.

hmm but RAM 16gb is the standard nowadays right? and I agree that SSD needs 500GB

Stick with an i5 if you would be mostly gaming on your rig.

well still depends on what games u playing and currently a few titles required more rams. not sure if future titles will have such requirements or not.

get a better monitor but i dun recommend a i7 too. there's no point in getting it for gaming.

Stick with an i5 if you would be mostly gaming on your rig.

i see.. im trying to get something that can last me at least 3 years so i dont need to so fast change gpu etc..

Tbh, u can even get the 1060 and it will last u 3 years easy.

Cpu u need to understand that most games don't use beyond i5.

OK u need to understand one thing first... the k series cpu is for overclocking. If u don't intend to overclock get the normal ones (6500, 6600) is fine.

The biggest mistake any builder make is to balance the entire rig poorly. If u get a 1080 yet use a I3, that is one example.
