Hi all,

I read through the sticky threads on GFX but still not sure which to get, advice pls:

Usage:
- mostly for photoshop painting across 2 monitors. current 512mb gfx lags at higher setting
- light gaming

Concerns:

- using old Gigabyte MB 870a UD3, so only have PCI-E 2.0 x16 interface.
- u/s Radeon is more value usually, but concerned with have conflict with photoshop rotation features so maybe will stick with Nvidia chips unless for advice otherwise
- do i need to be mindful of casing size? i'm using NZXT M59 casing.

Appreciate recommendations , specific to brand, model, shop to buy from. Budget ard 200 bucks (unless really worth topping up for my needs)

GTX650Ti or 7850, can play BF3 @ mid-high settings.

Leadtek GTX650Ti 1GB ~ $168 via Tradepac

Since you're using two monitor, best is to get the 2GB ones.
Need to stretch your budget for that.

Leadtek GTX650Ti 2GB Boost ~ $227.

Or

Powercolor 7850 2GB ~ $226

True. If you really favor Nvidia, you need to stretch your budget a bit & get the GTX660 then it will be faster than the 7850.

Leadtek GTX660 2GB ~ $268.

Can ask for discount one. LOLOL :)

If below $200 pointless to buy brand new. Go get yourself a 2nd hand gpu, like 660 or 580.

Thanks for the many replies bro.

your 2 recommendations fr Tradepac:
Leadtek GTX650Ti 2GB Boost ~ $227 vs Leadtek GTX660 2GB ~ $268

is that extra performance really worth the 40 bucks?
Is Tradepac a reliable shop to buy from? (usually i get fr fuwell) how much discount can i expect?

Get the 660.

650ti boost is working at its full potential of the chip already. Not a good card to oc also.

Although it is gonna match up the 660 but it is still best to go for the 660 instead.

$268. Can try bargain $250.

Thanks for chipping in bro, do you mean bargain fr Tradepac?

I don't think I will ever OC though, so oc potential is not impt.

Is the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti better than the Leadtek one?
Tradepac's pricelist shows GIGABYTE GTX650 TI O.C 2GB DDR5 @ 228 ( no Boost), considering cause Gigabyte svc center near my hse.

Boost and no boost is a slight leap.

Yes get the 660 leadtek from Tradepac and bargain off. I still think it is wiser for you to go for 660 instead.

GTX660 for that price point from Nvidia.

If can go red camp, for 10% better performance than the GTX660 at a slightly cheaper price you can get the R9 270

Powercolor R9 270 2GB ~ $244

Or you can hoot from Amazon.
Secondhand 660 going at around $220 currently. :s22:

You should put a big spacing... Some people may think you recommending buying second hand from amazon...

Thank you all once again for the replies.

Say if i am really able to stretch budget to 250, do you guys think its worth to get Gigabyte's 660 instead of leadtek?

GIGABYTE GTX660 OC 2GB DDR5 @ 282 ( will try to bargain and see how)

Reason being nearer to svc center and additional 1 yr warranty. Gigabyte vs leadtek, Gb have better quality?

Bad idea..... Your bus ride to and fro to the service centre , how much can it cost?

7870 myst much better performance is at that price point also..
