Hi Expert Bros here,
Please recommend me a PC setup (without monitor) for daily usage..

I won't do : gaming, video editing.
I will do : photo editing, watching movies, surfing net.

My budget is around S$800 ~ S$900. I want a very fast and reliable system within my budget. I don't need hard disk and Windows as I already have an SSD and Windows 7.

I plan to use i7-4790.

Thank you advance for your recommendations.

1) Name all photo editing software that you are using.

2) What SSD do you have with you? Not sure if you are going to have enough space for your media, might be a good idea to get a HDD for storage purposes, they are not very expensive either.

CPU+Mobo: i5 4690 + MSI H81M-E35 - $354
RAM: Crucial 1600MHz 8GB x2 [16GB] - $192
GPU: Powercolor 260X - $160
PSU: Xigmatek Tauro 500W - $75
CHA: Corsair 200R - $85

More RAM (and free SSD space) more important than i7 for Ps

Thanks Alternative X and Ark Law for the advice.

I will be using PhotoShop, but not heavily, just as a personal level only. Can I just use integrated graphic for my usage? I have a Samsung evo 840 128 GB and a high capacity external drive for storage purpose.

I also want the casing with multi-card reader...

Please recommend me a suitable ones.. Thank you.

Most cases do not come with a card reader. I would just suggest to buy a card reader and install it into a 5.25 bay or just to get an external one.

My PC is on 4590. Currently just using the integrated graphic for the purpose that you mentioned, i.e. movies, surf net, light photo editing (photoshop CS5, photoscape, Capture NX2, etc). No problem at all. You can always buy a discrete GPU later if you find that you need more juice.

Revised with GPU removed. CM Silencio series casing come with Class 10 card reader. Alternatively, you can just get the Kingston USB3 card reader (model FCR-HS3) separately, around $28.

With card reader casing:
CPU+Mobo: i5 4690 + MSI H81M-E35 - $354
RAM: Crucial 1600MHz 8GB x2 [16GB] - $192
PSU: Xigmatek Tauro 500W - $75
CHA: Cooler Master Silencio 352 mATX - $74
Total: $695

Silence-optimised version:
CPU+Mobo: i5 4690 + MSI H81M-E35 - $354
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i - $79
RAM: Crucial 1600MHz 8GB x2 [16GB] - $192
PSU: Seasonic G-450W - $105
CHA: Cooler Master Silencio 352 mATX - $74
FAN: Noctua NF-P12 x3 - $84
Total: $888

I recently built a PC with that exact casing, the stock fans are very audible imo (an irony given that it's marketed as a quiet case)

Just wondering why not ASRock H81M-HDS or ASUS H81M-K? Personally, I feel that MSI boards aren't as reliable...

Brand Model: # of USB2 + # of USB3 + # of USB3 front panel | distro

Asus H81M-K: 2 + 2 + 0 | Avertek
Asus H81M-A: 4 + 2 + 0 | Avertek
Asus H81M-D Plus: 2 + 2 + 2 | Avertek
Assbatu H81M-HDS: 4 + 2 + 2 | Avertek
MSI H81M-E35 V2: 2 + 4 + 2 | Corbell

Modern consumer board reliability isn't based on brand, it's based on luck.

Dunno, dun care. People who I've built for only cared if the port was blue or not :s13:

The standard affair for any H81 board I get must have 6 usb, at least 2 must be usb3, along with front panel usb3. Essentially the same feature set of a Z68 board

As long as can use can already. Not many will bother whether is from brand A or brand B USB controller. And as long as it falls within intel specs then it is fine.

Doesnt really matters.

All brands are as of now the same quality and standards. Whats more is that you are targeting an entry level board. Not high end segment. If you are targeting high end boards then you may look at all the things you want and what kind of standards you want.

But for entry level boards, they are all just the same.
