Yes, when to A Lab, due to unable to activate touch ID and cause of the bad battery drainage. Need to replace the whole LCD, cost $188 to resolve the problem. Decide not to do it. Any other way can stop the battery drainage without the touch ID is ok.

Since it’s a hardware issue + battery drainage, maybe it’s time to buy a new iPhone.

I had the same issue with mine last year. Took it to Apple Orchard. They charged me $180+ to replace the screen at first which didn't solve the problem. In the end, they gave me a new/refurb iPhone 6.

I don't know what caused the problem. I suspect it's Touch ID and have stopped using it.

I believe it is due to the touch id problem cause the bad battery drain as when on standby, screen off, it keep running the cpu at the background, while screen On, feel the drainage is not that bad. If replace the hone bottom without the touch id will stop the battery drain ?

Have had a similar problem with my iPhone 6. Have kept it as a spare phone until my S7 died. But using the iPhone 6 now, the battery drains super fast and even though I just changed the battery through Apple's battery replacement program. Barely lasts 2 hours of usage.

If replace home button without Touch ID, the software might result in error due to the home button Touch ID is a security feature, and the software is adapt to it.

You've to realize, Apple products Hardware and software are tied very tightly with each other. They will not work properly if one side fails especially with anything around Security. Touch ID home button is integrated with the display and many more parts of the system. Even replacing parts with third-party parts can make things fail.

Plus your Battery health indicates 88%. It is time to change that battery with the Battery replacement program or just get a new iPhone. 88% means you have lost 12% of your entire battery capacity. So from a 1810mAh battery, it is now a 1194.6mAh battery. You shouldn't be surprised if your battery life is horrible.

Plus I bet your device is in an extreme performance degraded state. So your CPU is clocked as low as it can to prevent unexpected shutdown so it means your CPU will RUN EVEN longer but slower trying to perform the ordinary task.

Last week after reading this thread I decided to sent my iPhone 6+ down

My touch ID failed a few months ago and a call with apple tech support also confirm the diagnosis report showing touch ID FAILED.

Went down to apple orchard and the cost to replace the whole screen cost $220 after GST.

The apple guy claim that the front camera, speaker, screen and Touch ID are together. Either issue will require a screen replacement.

After replacement the touch ID STILL fail. So much of sales talk say after repair they will be calibration before return the device. Power on the phone right away report touch ID FAIL.

So they went in and say motherboard issue and would cost 499 to replace me with a refurbished unit. Siao 4 year old phone $499.

Ended up they swap back old screen and left apple store. Now the phone nor longer complaint about touch ID ERROR and can allow me register touch ID.

BATTERY drain are slower. (guess the touch ID STILL unstable)

Btw the phone was replace 5-6 Months before applecare expired.

They did a check on the battery

170+ charging times
12% batt degrade.

So they suggested me don't change battery first.

Tks for info, understand in apple orchard, if paid and replace screen still not resolve the problem, they will give a replacement set instead with no extra cost. Seem like when screen off, touch ID file keep sending to the motherboard instruction which cause the battery drain. The screen on whole nite to test for 8 hrs, no shutdown, rather screen off for 5 hrs, it will drain and shutdown.

I think for my case they replace the screen (nothing paid) and when i pick up the device still have the same issue..

since nothing was paid and the guy went back to behind and come back with a new price quote.
