what kind of game? if he wan battlefield all these kind, 5 years down the road, like the previous person say, got to play at lower settings.

for gaming wise, it's pretty much GPU and RAM. keep your RAMS and HDDs and CPU and MB, try to get a MB with the same chipset (if needed), saves the trouble of reinstalling windows. get a seperate SSD for windows installation. new RAMS, SSD, GPU, will cost you around $900+-.
