I used Y5buddy and Yogofi last few trips… speed was good until you exceed the daily limit… not sure is 2 or 3GB… after exceed data limit the speed will be damn slow… only can surf internet and use map… YouTube confirm will buffer very long…

Battery life abt 6-8hours max… if more pple connecting to it will be lesser… but can use power bank to charge…

Return is easy… just use their return envelope and drop off at the post office at the airport… then use airport free Wi-Fi…

Do you book it on the day itself or few days before and arrange for pickup on day of arrival?

I always go with ChangiWifi and so far it has been pretty decent. I use it mostly to check my emails and for Google Maps, switching to the wifi of my accommodation when I could.

Seems like they upgraded their devices recently as well. The one I got last month could be charged through USB and even came with a travel adapter. Battery life is around 6 - 8 hours, and I could charge it on the go with my Samsung powerbank.

Bought my sim card from icc, didnt work on my prolink mifi or huawei mifi, only work when it is inserted in a phone, so end up only used via hotspot

Around half of SIM cards I tried in Japan need to manual setup. The other half is plug and play. Seems to be more and more manual setup these days.

That was what I encountered when I first bought prolink Mifi. I took time to troubleshoot with the prolnk tech guy and managed to get it to work. (I took 2 months in total to troubleshoot as I happened to be traveling to different countries.) There are some configuration you need to do on the prolink webpage first of your prolink device. I tested on 3 different countries and it has been working well. Once you get the setting right ,it will be plug and play going forward. I used ICC for all 3 countries I tested on after the final configuration and its just plug and play.

maybe after your japan trip and the icc sim card works on the prolink mifi, you can SIC here the configuration detail, that will be helpful.

I got a Docomo sim during my last trip to Osaka in March, and it worked well on my TPlink mifi. The shop selling the sim card provided the correct APN, which I added in my tpMiFi app. Quite simple.
Where to get Docomo SIM? In Japan or SG?
