POCO F5 SPECS UNVEILED: THE BEST FLAGSHIP KILLER OF 2023?

The F series of smartphones continues to be Poco’s most exciting models, despite the brand’s smartphone lineup growing somewhat each year and currently featuring models priced between $200 and $500. If the Poco F4 and F4 GT had compelling features to grab enthusiasts, their successors ought to garner support from even those who do not like Xiaomi.

As shown by the Redmi K60‘s datasheet, which we will undoubtedly nickname the Poco F5. The smartphone’s features, which were just revealed, promise to make it one of the top mid-range models of 2023.

  • Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor
  • 2K screen
  • 5500 mAh battery with 67W (wired) and 30W (wireless) fast charging
  • Triple camera sensors, including a 64 MP main photo sensor
  • In-display fingerprint sensor
  • LPDDR5 memory
  • UFS 3.1 Storage

It makes sense that the smartphone cannot use Qualcomm’s newest SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This one is exclusive for Xiaomi’s flagship, the Xiaomi 13. However, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will still be among the most powerful processors available in 2023. Enabling the Poco F5 to surpass other mid-range smartphones in terms of performance.

The Poco F5’s 5500 mAh battery should also boost the device’s endurance, albeit there are other factors to take into account when assessing a smartphone’s everyday usability. However, given the energy management abilities of Xiaomi smartphones, we can already make the assumption that the phone’s battery should survive for 2.5 to 3 days before needing to be recharged. The Poco F4 GT’s 4,700 mAh battery might be one of its only weaknesses.

Whether we will get a GT version before the classic edition, as was the case last year, is still up in the air. And most importantly, how much would the various Poco F5 versions cost. We hope that the costs of mid-range models would mostly remain the same as those of 2022 despite the price hike on the flagship side looming for 2023. The Poco F5 line would thus have sufficient resources to be attractive in 2023. With a significant technical sheet and a price of less than $500.

We anticipate that POCO F5 will feature a flagship processor, but which CPU it has remains a mystery for the time being. The information we have about the POCO F5 is still limited, but we do have some specifics.

POCO F5 spotted on the IMEI database!

Any smartphone will likely be offered for purchase soon if it has gotten any special certifications or is listed in the IMEI database. In the IMEI database, we discovered POCO F5 with the model number “23049PCD8G“.

The codename of POCO F5 is “marble“. Formerly, we believed the device with the “23049PCD8G” model number will be POCO X5 GT unfortunately this turned out to be false. This upcoming model is basically a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. POCO F5 will be offered globally and have the same specifications as Redmi Note 12 Turbo. Both smartphones haven’t been announced officially. The device will come with Android 13 based MIUI 14 installed out of the box.

It will be powered by a Qualcomm SOC based on the SM7475. The specifications of this processor are not yet known. It is expected to be the successor to the SM7450 based Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The name of the new SOC could be Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 or Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. We will learn that in time.

Also, we know that POCO F5 will most likely feature a 67W fast charging. Since Redmi Note 12 Turbo recently acquired its 3C certification, which revealed that it supports 67 Watt fast charging, we are sure that POCO F5 will as well.

POCO F5 Pro specifications
According to the tipster, the POCO F5 Pro will bring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU. This is the trending chipset for flagship killers in 2022. The OnePlus 11R and Realme GT3 bring this chipset, and POCO will also stick with it for the POCO F5 Pro. Besides the Qualcomm CPU, the tipster also confirms a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will come in options with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. It will run Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI 14, which is based on Android 13.

In terms of optics, the F5 Pro will pack a triple-camera setup. The primary shooter is a 64-Megapixel camera with OIS. Don’t expect any kind of advanced zoom, the phone will come with a regular 8-Megapixel ultrawide shooter and a 2-Megapixel macro lens. The phone will also pack a 16-Megapixel selfie shooter.

The POCO F5 Pro draws its power from a 5,500 mAh battery with 67W fast-charging support. The device will also get stereo speakers. Instead of an in-display fingerprint scanner, it will rely on a side-mounted one. The phone runs Android 13 which is not a surprise and has MIUI 14.
