Still remember 2 yrs back during the Poco carnival, managed hoot 2 budget fones for less than $100 each

Or that POCO have made it big (as the international face of Redmi - also under Xiaomi), moved up the market ladder and are putting such marketing "gimmicks" behind them?

Just like how Xiaomi went from midrange pricing for flagship device, to actual iPhone/Samsuck pricing.

Nowadays, none of the phones from either Redmi or POCO that costs <$200 are worth buying anymore. They are the previous <$150 tier kind of phone in today's equivalent.

I bought my F5 at less than $350 in 2023. An equivalent-level new phone is at least $450-500 now.

Ram and storage price now is close to 50% or more of the low end phones cost. Samsung announced to increase memory by 20% in q3. Increase selling price will not be competitive, no increase price is lose money. Xiaomi chose to cut production target in 2026 from 170 million to 95 million.

Recently got rumor xiaomi found cheap memory supply increased production target to 110 million. Maybe is cmxt committed memory to xiaomi that was why rejected apple offer. News said iphone 18 cpu chip finished at tsmc but no memory chip.
