I calc my net profit will be highest if quarterly, then monthly, then half-yearly.
Hi, can show your calculation working for say 1k per month cashflow?

I calculated if expected return is 5% annualised, it's most profitable to dollar cost average monthly cos monthly expected return > 0.27%.

my salary is low, so my oa contribution only $500. I calc based on mid mth unit price as per poems rsp. my agent bank transaction fee is $2.18.
your case may be different based on your agent bank and broker.

Hi, thank you for your detailed xls. A few points:

- your cumulative cashflow into the fund is 500 SGD per month and 6000 SGD for the whole year
- your profit is 600+ SGD for the whole year. That means your XIRR is much more than 10% as later cashflow won't get the compounding effects. I won't go into the calculation
- so your average per month investment return is probably more than 1% per month and your agent fee (2.18 SGD) will be 0.436% if going by monthly approach. So by right it should be more profitable to invest as soon as you get the cashflow every month as monthly return > monthly cost. Delaying investing even by a 1 or 2 month will have a time cost.
- according to you xls, your quarterly DCA approach is more profitable because on the 4/2025, the fund price totally tanked and you go all-in and pump a quarter worth of money to purchase the fund at a super low price (172.01 SGD).

In essence, from my last point above, your experience is situational and will likely not persist for the long term if in the long term prices tend upwards (more than costs) and exhibit random Brownian movements. But anyway, I think the difference between monthly and quarterly is not much - just do whichever suits you. LOL!
