Not rich, I think it's because my upgrade cycle is longer, so I just splurge more each cycle. I'm still on haswell.
Most people probably just upgrade every 2-3 years and spend less.

To TS. Since existing processor socket is going to be obsolete, no point spending on the highest speed. But if your work/needs require very high end one, nobody is stopping u to get. Your money, your wealth, u happy can already.

Initially wanted to get the 5900x but have sought opinion from ppl here and found that the software I use for work don't justify the usage for 5900x and I will be gaming most of the time so 5600x will be my choice. Anyway 2 to 3 years later the new generation cpu and motherboard will be out and if the current one up lorry also can change I guess

im quite similar to quite a few of you, my upgrade cycle is damn long so i don't mind getting a 5900X too. i wonder issit cos in this forum the majority is skewed since people over here tend to be more toward the enthusiast side of computer hardware, that's why the higher SKUs seem to have more votes.

Different leh...why don't you compared to i3 10100 with mobo now...it is less than $300 now but others built their 7700 with mobo was costing twice as much.
