Hi guys, anybody disappointed with the "special" offer they provided? of all the notebook, only three notebook intrigue me, they are hp envy 15, lenovo y410p and u430p (1.71kg only!!). All seems good until i done some research with the special "price" for "student". i'm comparable these price with the one at IT show 2014.

Hp envy 15. IT show cost $1199 while poly one cost $1499...$300 DIFFERENCE!! must be better spec right? OH YES! if you consider that extra 250gb hdd storage and extra 2 years warrenty with some useless free gifts like optical mouse ($2) is worth it. But maybe to some people that extra 250gb storage and extra 2 years warrenty are worth that $300 dollars.

For lenovo u430p, it was price at $1399 and $1282 on poly. IT one got FHD and i5 4200 while poly one have i7 4700 but (1366x768) basically worst screen resolution. (actually not too bad if you can tahan the screen since 1366x768 seems to be "ok" for 14 inch lappy)

Lastly, i have to apologise for the long rant. think i'm butthurt over missing the deal for hp envy 15 during IT show 2014 lol.

For HP Envy 15, you need factor in $129 for additional warranty from IT Show 2014. Additionally, the software are different. While the Microsoft Home and Student Edition is sold at $169 according to IT Show pricing, the software in school is much better, with Office Professional, Project, Visio and Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection (this alone I think educational copy is at least $150 plus, maybe more, say $50 each for Visio and Project). Total you have gain at least $250 from the software assuming educational prices are such and the freebies. $300 is offset by warranty and office.

Dude, school provides free software. You cant count those in. Schools are a scam, which is why i bought my laptop from malaysia.

I do not know how the software works in school. I did bought my Thinkpad X200 about 4-5 years back under SP Alumni, cheaper than market rate at that time. Now I would buy a Thinkpad only from Ebay or Amazon online.

i saw this post while searching for poly fair notebooks. You must be joking? you're post is baseless comparison of specs.
for the y410p series you are comparing with a u series u430p? based on the highest end u430p at Lenovo Notebooks G50-70, G40-70, S410, Z510, U330p, U430 Touch Ultrabook PC SHOW 2014 Price List Brochure Flyer Image, the spec is of a slower processor, less ram, less storage space, lousier grahpics, less number of years for warranty and cost $44 more. The only positive goodpoint is that it's full hd and lightweight.

Even till today after 3 months there is still no laptop that offers the same price to performance ratio that y410p offered from poly. Welcome to OrderLenovo.com
