There doesn't seem to be many modules I can take the test for to begin with. Perhaps you have better luck.

Edited to add : The reason the information on the website is confusing is cause its a generic rule for all faculties. Some courses, like Computing, have modules which are instant-exempted for students who have achieved a certain grade in certain modules in poly.

For NUS School of Business, you need to clear those tests to be exempted. =/

MC are like credit units in poly. The average MC per module is 4. So 20 MC = 5 modules. Maximum of 40 MC suggests up to 1 year of exemption. No such luck in the School of Business though.

Oh man I'm feeling rather upset. Its like, my efforts in poly seem to be wasted if there's no instant exemptions. We've studied an additional year too! :'(

& on top of the advanced placement tests, there's the Qualifying English Test too!

YA ! ALL poly students have to take it for NUS.

NTU exempts poly student with B4 or better in 'O' level english from the QET, but NUS doesn't.

(2) Wait one year & try applying other universities.

I made one wrong move this time round by applying only to one university.

I definitely don't look forward to QET :/

The problem is I don't even qualify for most of those tests. Even for those that I do, theres no way to know the scope of the test to prepare for it either.

There is the appeal option if you really want to change course this year.

I was reading through the modules outline. For certain modules, they do provide the topics that are covered & recommended textbook. But the recommended textbooks are different from what i have currently.

Hmmm i think the appeal option doesnt work for me :/ Cos i still prefer business admin course. Sighhhhs

Interesting, I might look more into those recommended texts. Thanks. Even so, preparing for those tests within such a short period of time will be quite the challenge.

You shouldn't have a problem gaining admission to NTU/SMU with your results. Definitely worth considering to apply next year.

Hi everyone!

I have received an offer from NUS business (BBA program), but i have some questions regarding the exemptions of modules & advanced placement. I've tried emailing them but everything is just making me super confused.

They (NUS) told me that all incoming Polytechnic students regardless of previous academic and co-curricular performance and course of study will have to sit for the individual Advanced Placement Tests should they wish to be granted exemption for any modules.

However, in the website, it mentioned the following:




What does "20 MCs of automatic exemptions" refer to?

I am from TP Business course. I've heard that for some universities, there's direct admission to the second year of study if we are pursuing the same course in university and has achieved good grades / has certificate of merit. Does that apply to NUS too?

What is the maximum number of advanced placement tests that i can take?

i'm not from NUS.. but looking at what you've posted, it seems that automatic exemptions are granted for electives.. if you want exemptions for your core modules, then you'd need to sit for a placement test..

i have alr accepted the offer for BBA, the exam for QET will be in july
