Hi guys. Just ported into Vivifi esim. My number under mobile services still shows old temporary number. Becos of this I can’t use my iMessage and FaceTime for my intented port in number. It keep showing temporary number.

manually keyed in under the mobile service , my number it just doesn’t apply. Reboot, airplane mode on off still stubbornly show temp number.

everytime I port in to new telco always have this problem. Yes normal mobile outgoing and sms shows my legit number but I use iMessage and FT often. I’m sure I’m not the only plaguing with this silly problem for years. Many questions asked on apple support don’t get a satisfactory answer as well.

Anyone has the best way to solve this? Any help would be really appreciated

“reset network settings” should fix the issue.

Once you put in a new sim with that temporary number, iphone will register the initial number to that sim card. The only way to resolve this is to either use android phone or request for another new sim card after the number that you want is already activated on the new sim.

I think so far no telco will use back the same sim card if you change the number. They will usually give you a new sim card for every number you subscribe. They wont ask you to use back the old sim card which you terminated even you apply another number under the same telco. I think thats why iphone cannot register the change of number once it registered that this number is link to this sim card.

Ic, i didnt know that. That time my friend had to change a new sim card to solve the problem. Even after manually update the number, the number will ownself revert back to the first registered number instead of the ported number.

thanks for sharing! but the downside is i got to forego all my wifi saved passswords, i have quite a few passwords saved for different location like friends' place and some office network. its a bit hard to get back this. Not sure why this wasnt fix for the longest time!

Yes, I hate resetting network setting too, all the saved credentials for Wifi have to be erased... incredibly annoying.

Got a suggestion but not sure if will work or not. Since wifi password saved is link to icloud, maybe can try logout icloud first then reset network setting. After resetting, login back icloud then see if it solve the problem or not. Can try at some risk.

Wa you’ve got a smart idea! Might just work. I’ll KIV for next port In. Already did a reset network setting despite my hesitance. I’ll update this thread(works or not) if I did your suggestion next time.
