currently using iphone 4 as my mp3 player with um3x, should i upgrade my mp3 player? if so, which is a good upgrade?

cowon j3 would be a nice choice. wouldnt be easy to gt a new one though. fiio x3 seem buay pai too.

personally use my J3 w/o amp. like it that way since i hate carrying too many thing around. find J3 works fine w/o amp though some people prefer to amp it. can consider cowon z2 too since it has android os

so all those sansa, cowon, ak will produce better sound directly from the player compare to iphone? and also is it worth to sell my headamp to get the players?

when you try the player, shun bian try the amp, if it sounds better then keep, if not, do whatever you deem is logical.

Yes. It somewhat will sound better. Cleaner sound, less interference and stuff from the phone.

Whether to sell the amp or not, depends on what you're going to use with. If its a pair of headphones, maybe don't sell first. If its a pair of high impedance IEMs, then you can also hold on to it. If its anything else, maybe you might like to try the DAPs with your amps to see if your IEMs benefit greatly from amping. If the increase is only a little bit or so, then you can choose to sell the amps lol

why don't you lug your complete arsenal and head down to e1 and test every possible combination till you find the right one?

they should have the ak100, dx100, nova 1 & 3
