hi, any small biz owners here, that are using portable POS terminal for payment?

so far, i have only found the M1 mPOS. have to link it to a rental device from M1. are there any other choices in the market?
also, can you set the merchant code for your biz?

lets say, if you want to set up online payment in future .
what kind of payment portal , can be set up together with POS terminal?

Yup you can use the shopify POS app to process credit card payment and cash OTC...

Edit: Just need to note, you cannot process the credit card OTC as you do not have a credit card reader terminal...You will need to enter the credit cards details like making an online purchase if you want to accept credit cards payment OTC...Cash transactions not a problem and inventory will be sync with your web store..

Yup, I have been using them for more than 2 years already...So far no problems other than setting up the shipping rates for individual items...

I never had to declare merchant code as credit card payment are processed by Shopify Payment (which I think uses Stripe) or Paypal which are online transactions...

which shipping are you using?
it seems like after i include all the cost and aux cost , the margins are not that great. imho, shipping in sgp, is still quite ex, esp if its a low value item.

I'm using the shopify Basic account which is US$29/month or around S$39/month...

The fees for shopify to process local credit card is 3.2% + S$0.50...For Paypal, it is 3.9% + S$0.50...

With regards to whether it is worth it, it really depends on your profit margin after all expenses...It also depends on what price your competitors are setting their price....

For me right now, I'm mostly using Singpost Registered Mail and Smartpac as I mostly sent out to local customers...If you want to buy Smartpac, please buy it from Qoo10 as you are able to purchase it at the same price there and still be able to use Qpoints and discount coupon...

I have looked into qxpress for delivery but the only problem for me is that I have a full-time job on the weekdays and qxpress only pick-up the item during the office hours on weekdays...

Another delivery company that I considered is Ta-Q-Bin because of the convenience of just dropping the package at 7-eleven...

For the shopify link, I prefer not to share it for privacy reasons...If you really insist, we can meet up in person...

yes, the price i quoted was in USD, so yea, after conv to Sgd, will be about there. so every 100 bucks of revenue, will be ~ $96..
have to redo my sums agn, and see if its worth it.
i prefer to do it hassle free, as i have a FT job too, and mostly i am not in the country, so i need the payment process to be hassle free. (for sending out parcels, i can get a family member)

i agree smartpac is the best for sellers/buyers. they reduce alot of time spent and lost mails. but again, boils down to cost, and of coz if seller can fit the items in the box. otherwise, SP is also my first choice amg the list of couriers.

Actually it boils down on which avenue are you looking at to sell your product...

I'm using the basic plan which enable me to sell it on my website and facebook...I also will be able to accept payment during roadshows or booth events...

The good thing is that the url will be in yourdomain.com but if you don't want to use your own domain, you can use the free yourdomain.shopify.com...

Payment processing should not be a problem, just the fees that you have to pay and the recurring monthly fees for the plan...

You could try Posify (posify.me). They are an app based and web based pos system. So you can use it from an ipad or any android table, and any pc since its web browser based. It is also an online store creater, so it does this online-offline thing.

Using a credit card reader or do you need to manually enter the credit card number?If it comes with the reader, do you need to purchase it separately or do you need to pay rental for the terminal?How much is the fees for accepting credit card payment for Visa, MasterCard and AMEX?

it works with certain card readers, but you'll need to ask Posify. The app currently accepts visa mastercard as far as I know. They dont sell the card reader, but they can recommend what card reader is acceptable.
