Anyone here tried portable wifi rental service in Tw before? How's it like? Or am I better off with just buying a temporary data sim card?

i would say sim card if more than 3 days. you can always bring a extra android phone to do tethering but have to check first if the sim card supports tethering.

My friend suggest me buy their pre-paid sim card as is not v expensive and best part is unlimited data usage so should be trouble free afterall.

Just need to bring extra battery bank for google purpose.

Another part is all pre-paid sim card are only available purchase at airport only. If you go outside retail store, they only have top up service ..

Yes, for taiwan, one will not go wrong using their unlimited pre-paid sim card. Cheap and good.

Just get the SIM from 7-11. They need your passport etc. Can top up. 1.2G is only TWD180 for the top up if you return within 6 months. After 6 months have to call up and reactivate. The one I use is 7 Mobile.

Call them at 722 and speak to their customer officer. Speak Mandarin. Then tell them your SIM card number. Then they will reactivate. Then go to the 7-11 ibon machine and purchase the topup. Get printout. Pay at the counter. They will give you receipt which contains the code. Call 722 again but this time key in number for top up. They will ask for your code. Key in code. Top up complete.
