Hi, am planning to switch from Singtel Combo 2 to M1's mySIM 20 plan later in the morning. My contract with Singtel states 24 months from 9 May 2017, so I believe i'm already out of contract as of today 10 May 2019. Am planning to port over my number.

However, I have checked my Singtel app and realised that they have billed me for the following month. (My billing cycle is from 7th-6th so they are billing me for the subscription from 7th May to 6 June. Date of bill is stated as 11th May 2019)

I've heard that number porting will fail if there are any outstanding bills. But as I'm planning to switch asap, I'm expecting to pay a pro-rated charge for my Singtel plan upon termination.

Should I go ahead with the porting over? Or would it be better to pay Singtel first, then wait for the final bill and then request refund for the excess I would have paid for (since it will be pro-rated instead of the whole month's subscription)? Have read somewhere here that refund matters can take very long and one has to initiate by calling 1688 ?

Go ahead with the porting, I don't think there will be any issues. And Singtel should refund you the advance usage they had already billed you for.

You still need to make payment for your current bill.

if you want to be on the safe side, you can call Singtel to let them know that you are porting over to M1 and that you will settle all outstanding bills after successful porting. This was what i did.
I dont think you have any big amounts owed to Singtel right? =)

Yup no outstanding bills cos I always pay before they chase me. This current billing is for the subscription for 7May to 6 June so I'm thinking if they would reject the port due to this.

Thanks for the help all!
