Understand there's some existing efforts but I think many merchants are still not listed.

Should have a Master List FOR All CCs.

Bengawan Solo and Bee Cheng Hiang not very clear if they are under Dining ?

For Citi Cashback CC.

Bee Cheng Hiang is categorized as MCC 5499 Miscellaneous Food Stores–Convenience Stores, Markets, Specialty Stores, and Vending Machines

Whether can get cashback under the citibank cashback card is another question.

I have asked Citibank before and they replied that the following MCC were use for the 3 spending categories

1) Petrol -
5541 Service Stations (With or Without Ancillary Services)
5542 Fuel Dispenser, Automated

2) Dining
5811 Caterers
5812 Eating Places and Restaurants
5813 Bars, Cocktail Lounges, Discotheques, Nightclubs and Taverns–Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages)
5814 Fast Food Restaurants

3) Groceries
5499 Miscellaneous Food Stores–Convenience Stores, Markets, Specialty Stores, and Vending Machines
5411 Grocery Stores, Supermarkets

In that case, Bee Cheng Hiang would qualify for the bonus 7.75% cash rebate under the Grocery category

Great to know that bengawan Solo and Bee Cheng Hiang grouped under Grocery.

Thumbs up!

your blog posts are helpful and easy to read, and should have more new pots more often. If you can transplant the Citibank one into the lcpteck GoogleDocs, that would be great!

I only know I got 6% (weekend dining) last time when I used ocbc 365 at bengawan solo.

Thats good news!

Ive compared citibank and ocbc365 MCC for dining based on the T&Cs and they are the same.

Next time i will use citibank cashback cc for bengawan solo!

I usually ask the banks for MCC for more unique merchants. Citibank and dbs are very prompt and reply via ibanking message.

Uob also quite prompt will reply by phone call. I have not tried ocbc

Thanks everyone for your replies.

The Current MCC sheet is lacking in the way its designed. What I should have side earlier is, it should be a Master List -- separate file then linked in formula to whatever Credit Card Rebates / rewards sheets.

Why don't you start doing it based on the info already in the spreadsheet.

Thanks. I will try to write more posts. But been very lazy. Been thinking of doing a Googlesheet, but difficult to find time to do so.

Let me try to guess.

The googlesheet should do following once u enter a merchant:
1. Show MCC
2. Show how much rebates and / or credit card points one should earn from the merchant.

think she meant something like

merchant name(of restaurant) - merchant code(dining) - citi ** 8%, boc family 7%
merchant name(of grocery) - merchant code(grocery) - citi ** 8%, boc family 5%

so straightaway we know what card to use for any merchants, no need to browse card by card
