Yo guys just wanna share some informative advice based on my experience hopefully can inspire some of you peeps out there. Also cause I'm quite free now lol.
PES c driver > OCS.
I was originally PES c2l2 due to torn ACL,MCL and meniscus from a rugby injury thus enlisted into PES c Bmt. I also wanted to up PES but could only do so 1 year after my operation which by then would be halfway into Bmt so I only saw the tekong mo halfway through Bmt to up PES. I brought along a specialist memo stating that I have 'recovered' mostly from my injuries(I still have problems with my knee) . A few weeks later,I saw a panel of SAF doctors at the NUS facilities where they evaluated me before giving me the PES status of B1L1. I basically told them I wanted to up PES cause I was bored lol but don't follow me.i then completed PES C BMT with a PES status of B1L1. Just wanna say that during my time it is incredibly hard to up PES due to the fact that the system makes it hard and tedious. When you wanna up PES you are put into the category of PES review and there are literally thousands of people in this queue who wants to downpes for all sorts of reasons and you have to queue with them. Usually by the time you up PES your NSF time will be finished. Unless your clerk is good you are usually screwed. Ironic that the hardest part is not the rebmt or OCS journey but just getting a slot into rebmt itself. Luckily for me I have a friend who works in this medical review process so he used my case study to propose a change to this procedure where up PES cases would be pushed to the front of the queue from now on thus significantly decreasing waiting time. Not sure whether it got approved but hopefully future batches will benefit. By the way If you are wondering I also didn't sign some waiver/indeminity form stating that any injuries from then on would not be covered or responsibly by SAF.
I was a driver then so I was sent to driver school for a few months after where I achieved my army driving license. I was then selected to be a 'pes C driver Sergeant' or transport supervisor in my unit. However, I OOC from this sergeant course due to the fact that I have up PES and thus need to rebmt. My initial rebmt date was in August 2015 however, they apparently 'forgot' about it and thus it was delayed. By the way I enlisted in April 2015 so it has already been approximately 4 months. So I was told that the next rebmt date would be 5th January 2016 enhanced leadership batch. at this point of time I had already completed ippt and gotten gold so that helped to push me into enhanced leadership bmt batch which is the batch you want if you wanna go into OCS/SCS as highest chance. Just saying that you also can't be passive and wait for rebmt, as most of the time it will never come as the clerks will always forget to put you inside. You have to actively ask and push just to rebmt(ironic isn't it cause most of my friends who had to rebmt wanted to siam). By the time 2nd Jan 2016 came I asked my superiors again whether I was in the 5th Jan rebmt slot, they said sorry apparently something cocked up and you have to wait till April 2016 rebmt batch. At this point of time I was quite pissed off as if I had gotten the August rebmt in the first place, I won't need to extend my NS journey to fulfil minimum 6months of serving after commissionning. Rebmt at 5th January means extending by 2 months and if I rebmt in April 2016, it means extending by 5 months and thus missing university the following year. I thus skipped the chain of command (highly not recommended unless your superiors really don't know what to do I got screwed for it) to ask them about this rebmt problem. Luckily the LTC of logistics helped me to sort out this problem immediately and literally placed me in the 5th January rebmt batch the next day. Lol it only took 1 day for an LTC to do this sigh and 8 months for a clerk zzz. So thank God that I managed to rebmt with 2 days notice in advance. From there on it's the standard story where you do your best in Bmt , get top 10% and then selected to go to OCS. Just indicate you wanna go OCS and do well in SIT test, and don't OOC in OCS keep yourself healthy and injury free. If anyone is wondering, yes my knee still gives me problems which is why I'm not in infantry sadly. I probably won't check the forum or post anymore stuff so good luck to all.
Experience by a random 2lt scrub who just commissioned 616 days into enlisting.
