hi all,

been awhile since i ventured here, would like some advise.

currently running;

Core i3-530 2.9GHz

GeForce GT 240

6GB (i think)

trying to play some current games, (fifa15, gta v)

i don't know if i can still upgrade the system to keep it relevant or should i just consider a new rig.

mainly use it to surf the net, and some gaming likely (if possible).

so any advise is good.

thank you.

I also wanna hijack this thread sorry TS.
My requirement same as TS wanna play those games. Budget $300.

Current build:
Pentium G620
8gb RAM
Biostar 61MLB with on board Intel HD graphics
CM RS400 PSU

Please recommend. Don't mind 2nd hand too.

Double check your RAM capacity in Computer > Properties

What is your PSU model btw?

You should overclock your CPU and get Zotac GTX 660 2GB Synergy Edition @ $170 before tuesday if your PSU can sustain.

Which CM 500W PSU are you going to get? Please state exact model of PSU.

Also, what casing are you using?

1) Do note that the Sapphire HD 7870 is 260mm long and you will need to take out your lower HDD cage to fit in the GPU.

2) Would rather that you pay a bit more for a FSP Hexa Plus 80+ 550W PSU for $68. CM's lower end budget PSUs are not that good. However, if you can scrounge up more $$$, I would strongly suggest getting a FSP Aurum S 80+ Gold 500W PSU for $89 for better build quality and PSU performance.

Great! Will try to source for these items.

Yeah I will prob get FSP instead thanks for the recommendation!

With all these in place, can at least play the games at medium settings at least?

FIFA 15 at max settings in 1080p, probably Medium-High settings in GTA V unless GTA V is very unoptimised like Assassin's Creed: Unity.

managed to pickup a 7950 and everything works alright, yet to test it. but i have a problem. it blocked up both slots for where the my sound card goes, now using onboard sound card, is there any way i can still fit my sound card in?

wasn't expecting the gfx card to be so freakin huge.

i have a 2nd slot for another gfx, which will allow the sound card to be fitted in nicely but i think that's the secondary one, which is only usable IF i install 2 gfx cards.
