u should know better than anyone here ...

not many people would want transit
like you have managed to book tokyo by mh business class at < 1000sgd
is cheap, however is very troublesome

True, I guess it depends on the individual.

I would say 2 out of 10 would consider transit when flying airasia to other countries except thai, indo, msia ...

you wont usually hear your friends saying that they are flying to Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo , Seoul, Australia via Airasia ...
sometimes the price might even be more expensive flying direct by scoot ...

perhaps you would hear more of scoot ...

How did Air Asia come into the picture?

lcpteck's 'look beyond Asia' meant don't just look at flights/trips within Asia. Comprehension failed again ah?

Bro ... I m using airasia as an example =.=
Since lcpteck is talking about thai airways flying beyond asia (transit is required)

Please input comments that adds value to the topic...

I don't see any issues in doing transit when flying with Thai Airways or Malaysia Airline. They are full service airlines with meals and check in luggages.

Many times I can get promo rates at $300 plus flying them to Japan or China. The transit time is only 2 hrs.

Budget airlines can be cheaper but without full services. Also many scoot flights need to do transit too.

may I ask, if your transit is only 2 hours for two ways each?
You have chosen MH to which city and TG to which city before ?

4yr ago, when going tokyo via TG

TG410(SIN-BKK) TG642(BKK-NRT)
TG643(NRT-BKK) TG401(BKK-SIN)

For the timing of the flights, just google those codes

Same sentiment, you pay cheaper flight for 2 hours transit time each way, also budget airlines these days are no longer that cheap unless you fly without any check-in luggage.

For me, I took MH to Nepal ($375) and will fly to Beijing on Thai this May, only cost ($334) return. Direct flight on SQ would cost $500+, so it's really up to the individual if it's worth the $200+ savings for extra 4 hours.

Got proof or not? SQ to Beijing for $388? Unbelievable lei. I always go to Beijing. Cheapest I have seen is around $548 mark or so. Have flown a few times on SQ to Beijing. Cheapest I went to Beijing was on MH for $250. Transit 40mins for the outgoing and 1hr for the incoming. Cheapest was $8 + taxes to Tianjin + highspeed rail from Tianjin to Beijing.

Jetstar used to be in the $300+ mark too but arrival into Beijing just after midnight.

Bro , too bad their promotion has ended, else you can book:
Bangkok 188
HK 228
Beijing 388
Paris 808 :)

you would need to get the promo code, which u can get , by playing their game online :)
The promo was launched on 26 Dec, booked by 6 Jan :)

Since this is a airline promo thread, why must be restricted to 'direct flights' promo only leh? The world is so big and there's only so many places SIN can link us to directly.

I'm planning a trip to Baltics this July, if someone can post a promo for flights from SIN to Baltics, I'd be more than happy ma.

Even for TG, TG also flies to other destinations (eg Cities in Thailand, BRU, ARN, OSL etc) which do not have direct flights from SIN.

Furthermore, some people don't mind that few hours of transit if can save $, esp when travelling during peak period (eg long weekend) where even budget airline can be expensive if we book a bit later.

Oh and maybe the posted promo here will help people who'd previously missed a better direct flight promo.

So I feel that since this is a airline promo thread and not exactly a 'direct flight' promo thread I think everyone can contribute where appropriate.
