Most ppl still don't understand.

This whole election is a battleground fought on MIW's turf and based on rules MIW sets up. The GRC thing is already an insurmountable challenge, let alone the media + new citizen strategy + pioneer gen strategy.

MIW let their guard down in 2011 but as can see in this election, if MIW wants, it can easily get 95% of the votes assuming they go full-force.

dun believe? take hougang as an example.

assuming MIW wants to take back hougang in GE2020 - all they need is to build new HDBs there as much as possible, and get the new citizens to move in. Throw in $ packages (Pioneer generation package, middle class package, newborn package, New Citizen welcome package etc.) and they would be literally wiping the floor with WP's heads next GE.

Let's be rational : Aljunied is guaranteed to vanish within 5 yrs.

As for hougang, assuming MIW goes full-force on it now that it has weakened, i believe hougang will see a defeat (in gaming lingo, it's called rape) similar to potong pasir this time.

This means, GE2020 is officially the extinction of all oppos in SG and the official beginning of a True One-Party Rule.

Based on the votes garnered by oppo in past 20 - 30 yrs, u can see they've not made progress overall. You see a few spikes in % here and there but notice oppo, even with LTK at his peak, did not even do any dent to MIW.

Looking at the current situation, there are only a few outcomes in GE2020:

1) No election in GE2020 due to all oppos quiting (LTK disband WP, CSJ migrates USA for good, all other parties snuffed out, or worse, several oppos will be in jail similar to the dark 90s ages)

2) internal power struggle within MIW once pinky steps down the next couple years, though this is unlikely to happen within the next decade but more likely in 20 - 30 yrs

3) unexpected event happens which involves a group of new citizens who are so shrewed and extremely good at politics and they are able to put a big dent in MIW and claim a significant share of power to themselves
ie: new party consisting of highly intelligent new citizens who are able to win over majority of all new citizens by 2020 and a section of sinkies

4) unexpected event which causes chaos in singapore (similar to USA's 9/11) which brings the country to its knees, which will then result in multiple spin-off outcomes

Looking at the current opposition in SG, even if LTK, SL, CSJ and the late-JBJ, assuming all are at their peak and prime, were to form a oppo team and contest in any of the GRCs this election, they would not make any difference.
The result would still be slaughter.

The current oppo scene in SG is similar to a wing-chun fighter who goes inside an MMA ring, and the MMA fighter sets all the rules, and tell the wing-chun fighter : cannot use punches, cannot use head-butts, cannot grapple, cannot use legs, cannot use bites. you can only dash and dodge.

You know what? good luck to the wingchun fighter.

As for the 70% of sinkies who desperately wants a one-party rule with increased hikes in everything from GST to population within the next 5 yrs, i've nothing to say. As the saying goes, if man does not want to save himself, there's nothing the heavens can do.

For the 30% of ppl who vote oppo, an option remain:

Save up enough $, get as good a job as you can, expand your skill sets across a very broad range (generalized, not specialized), be neutral to new citizens, and when the going gets worse in the next 10 yrs, consider migrating as an option.

To conclude, the oppo scene in SG is now back to the early 90s. If this is a pattern we're seeing, whereby the oppo's powers declines every 10 - 15 yrs and peaks again every 10 - 15 yrs, then next GE will be the extinction of the current oppo generation (LTK, SL, CSJ) in SG.

Then, 10 - 15 yrs after GE2020, a new generation of oppos will rise again but this time it'll be lead by the new citizens. this will be approx 2030 - 2035.

To all those who were wise and brave enough to vote oppos, I want to say, thank you, fellow Singaporean. ;)

Would you consider the possibility of the incumbent ruining everything in the long run, then suddenly quitting en masse, leaving a huge mess behind:s11:
