After almost a month since iPhone X release is the additional (8/8+) 200-600 feels worth it?

I'm yet to owned 1 and will be re-contracting next weeks need some feedback.

My choices is between iPhone 8 (wait for next gen iPhone X) and iPhone X coming from Samsung S7 edge and definitely not considering 8+ or the new samsung model because of the size issue and heavily invested in apple environment.

I would say go for X and this will last you for another two years.

If you go for iPhone 8, next year new X out, can you recontract again or change?

Go for the x. The OLED itself is worth it IMO. Not much sense to go for 8/8+ if you’re already on 7/7+.

i have the X and i kinda miss the 8 plus i had too... reason being is the efficiency of having the touch ID...

gesture is cool but once in a while when you are seriously working thru your phone, gesture might be quite annoying...

:p that's why im bit split. I know the next iPhone X type of model will definitely improved but since I'm tied up for another 2 years after re-contracting that's why been wanting X just not sure with feedback so far.

Those reviews online just too familiar same lines like too fake not really consumer base but just for ads.

It's a whole new design and it's also the 10th anniversary model of the iPhone.

Good enough reasons to get X.

OLED as con? Performance and battery too? Face ID? Why?

FaceID need a while to get used to but once you use it really it is just feels great to have it unlock just with a glance.

Apps open quickly without stutter. Have you tried Safari? It loads things in a zip esp with content blockers so Ads and horrible web scripts cannot slow it down.

My battery life has been fantastic so far! I leave my location services on for quite alot of application and for all system services. WiFi, Bluetooth also the same always on and I never clear my multi-task tray unless I need to restart the app.

I've always dreamed of OLED on an iPhone and I love it! Have you tried watching video on it? It is so good! How are those a con?

i upgraded to 8+ and wait for 2018 X plus

why not take X now? Because pioneer model confirm many many issue and need to wait for app developers to update app adapt to new screen size.

By 2018 model, they should have ironed out most issues from X and most app UI would have support the new screen size.

Before we get the pitchforks out, let me justify my cons

  • OLED
Apparently the drop in display technology is so big, Apple has to publish an article on the launch date.
About the Super Retina display on your iPhone X
Outlining the "characteristic" and "normal behaviour" of OLED.

There is a 30+ pages discussion on MacRumors: Combined | iPhone X Yellow / Blue shifted Display?
If you hang around this forum during the first weekend, there is quite a number of posts talking about it. Some have gotten refunds due to it.

With the introduction of Retina Display, it brought along PPI calculation. The same calculation can't be used on a PenTile OLED. Because PenTile uses sub pixels whereas LCD uses RGB pixels. The sharpness is just not there.

Display is the most important component of a smartphone. Every time you look at it, this inferior display technology is staring right back. Into your soul.
  • iOS 11
  • Face ID
If you have an evil twin or kids, this is not that secured, especially when you consider Apple Pay is guarded behind it.

Using Apple Pay is awkward with authentication needed to happen first before bringing it up to the terminal.
  • headphone jack
That's just stupid consumer hostility from Apple.
  • unlikely apps will get optimized
  • expensive
Out of Apple's current lineup, when you compare this model with Apple's best model, it's very hard to justify that 900SGD diff.
  • battery
The numbers say it has a bigger battery than a plus model. But on usage, it didn't last longer. It just didn't.
  • performance
For some reason, maybe there is a performance penalty for pushing the extra pixels, iPhone 8 just feels snappier.

tl;dr If you skipped to this, you probably already decided what you wanted. Just do you.

Let's just agree to disagree. I am just sharing my brief experience with the phone.

Because by selling it off they lost money? Or if they sell it off they have to buy iPhone 8 Plus 256GB at $1350? So many condition out there... we cannot lay any conclusion on it...

Apple didn't specifically said the X will have a better battery life than the Plus models, did they?

nope. only mentioned 2hrs better than non-plus model.

generally people will compare the battery capacity. and X is bigger than Plus.

but real world usage is another story.
